I don't understand Green Day's new found popularity. Actually, I do - It's the 14 year old's who think bands like Simple Plan are good, and think Green Day are some new band. It'll be over within a year.

Well Bon Jovi have had a far better career than Green Day although I can see why they won the comeback category cause American Idiot is x4 platnium in the US and x15 platnium worldwide so obviously they walk that category. I have to admit Green Day's run of single's from American Idiot to When September Ends has been superb and turned their album into a mega seller worldwide. I also think Boulevard Of Broken Dreams is the best song to be released in quite a while, be nice if anything Bon Jovi released in the future got as big as that song did.

They had:

Hairdo's - Bon Jovi
Live show - Green Day
Can't remember the topic.. - Green Day
Sappiest songs - Bon Jovi
Girl magnet - Bon Jovi
Political - Green Day
and of course the tie breaker..
Comeback - Green Day

What do you think?
who the hells greenday?

I was gonna say the same. Many people, certainly in England seem to think they are a new band releasing their first album, when they've had many albums and even a hits compilation. I remember back when they recorded Dookie, with Basket Case being a pretty big hit. There were people saying then that it would never last, but then came other hits such as Good Riddance, When I Come Around, Minority, etc, and suddenly 14 years down the line the band have hit bigger than ever.

I still think Green Day have a lot to do before they can be compared to Bon Jovi, although even the most biased Jovi fan has to admit that American Idiot is on the same level commercially as some of the best Bon Jovi albums. Their songs are very simple in structure, which in many cases is unlike BJ, but I think Billie-Joe is a good songwriter. Is he a great guitarist? Hardly. In fact he can probably play no better than Jon can, but he is a very good riff writer and has the handy knack of being able to say what he wants to say in a song with authority! He keeps things simple and gets the most out of his somewhat limited talents. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. I kinda like the up yours attitude to a lot of Green Day songs too. It's something a little different to the mainstream, even though Green Day are now a mainstream band.
