Have you ever seen CC Deville live? He is NOT a great guitarist. He does what he does well. He's not versatile in the least bit.

And Slash most certainly should be there, and I'm sure he is.
I am just saying that whatever list you take, you will definetly find Hendrix, Page, Van Halen, Clapton and Jeff Beck. It's just standard. These are the best guitarists ever and that's it. Now depending on the profile of the magazine you might find Dimebag Darrel, Kerry King, Kirk Hammet etc etc.. very high up if it is a Metal magazine; Richie Blackmore, Angus Young, Joe Perry, Tony Iommi - very high if it is a classic rock magazine; CC Deville, Randy Rhodes, Zakk Wylde, Richie Sambora - if it is 80s Metal Edge or BB KIng, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry if it is The Rolling Stone. However you take it, it's mainly about the profile of the magazine. And i think it's normal this way. Of course, in any list you will find Mr. Vai, Mr. Satriani and Mr. Yngwie Malmsteen very well placed. Just few examples.

Since you say that CC Deville 'does what he does well' , I don't have to comment very much because I simply agree. What he does is playing guitar and he does it well.

SLASH SUCKS!
