Man that performance is one of the greatest covers of all time. Every member of the band shines.

Tico seemed to hit very hard in that and play with an energy he doesn't show of late. Technically I wouldn't know as I don't drum...

I do think Tico's drumming is much better. He just doesn't always show it and Jazz style wouldn't really fit into Bon Jovi or would it? haha who knows? Would sound interesting I'm sure

If he's good at playing Jazz on the drums, he can do anything. Every musician I ever talked to about that has told me that a Jazz drummer can play anything and Rock patterns are easy compared to Jazz.

People are missing the main man here. What about Ringo Star? He's got be the ideal rock drummer. If Tico was like him Bon Jovi would be good.

But what's funny about that video is the fact that Richie's guitar cuts out at about 2:00.

I remember someone asking John Lennon if Ringo was the best drummer in the world and he said that he isn't even the best drummer in The Beatles. I'm not a Beatles fan so I can't comment, but from the limited footage I've seen I think he's pretty average to be honest.

Ah, but John Lennon had a very sardonic sense of humour. That wasn't a serious comment at all. Somebody once said that John, Paul and George could only play one style of drumming each, but Ringo could do it all. He was deliberately understated as he firmly believed drumming should be for a backbeat, and often George Martin mixed his drums down and compressed them. He hated drum solos and the other Beatles had to trick him into his solo on The End (by playing along to it as he recorded it and then removing their instruments). He's also very reliable; apparently he only ever made five mistakes throughout the whole of The Beatles' tenture!

The songs I listed in my last post have very memorable beats or fills, and just go to show that Ringo could kick out the jams (mother****ers! ) when he wanted to. Here are some isolated drums from Strawberry Fields Forever:

He's a great drummer and although he's not Keith Moon or John Bonham, it's not entirely unintentional. You shouldn't underestimate the understated

Let's not forget Come Together, the drums own that song.

The thing about Ringo is that by modern standards he's pretty average (then again harrison wasnt shredding...) but back then he was one of the most original (and to be fair even by todays standards his beats are pretty out there for a rock band) and solid drummers.

The quickest thing to turn me around and head out of a gig is when the drummer thinks it's the drum solo with some background music show and won't just stfu and play what the song needs.

That's where ticos strength lies.
