It is important for me because I feel thats the way it should be done, and I like to listen to the lyrics and figure out the message which they put across, and then relate that to the lives and beliefs of the band. I find the people who I admire and who have influenced me the most are great song writers such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and to a certain extent Bon Jovi.

getting a badn that writes and plays their own music is a complete package, without it there is always something missing.

Its very important to me knowing that the band sings their own songs.

without writing there own songs (which i don't think they ever do) can't imagine really. I don't mind if they cover anysongs now and then, but if they really lose writting touch then they better making album.

writing their own songs is a part of what they are so to me its very important that they write them rather than just siong someone elses songs likes most people doe these days

So I wouldn't know, maybe if it is a monster of a song I could dig it, but I probably would resent it the same way since i know they are able to write perfectly great songs on their own.with outside help a lot of the times but still.
Initially I rationalized Unbelievable and Long Long Way To Go as being alright. Now....I don't care to hear them again. I just find it unacceptable for the band to be doing songs that they did not write, even if they sound good. They do have it in them to write great songs...but I think these two were more a result of their mis-guided attempt to pander to the youth market, actually..with the exception of Kiss the Day, I'm pretty disappointed with the entire X album for attempting to pander to the current market (at least at the time of it's release.) At this point in their career...they should be concentrating on being Def Leppard, the artists...not Def Leppard, the radio friendly band. It's unfortunate because sonically it does pretty much go to the next level. But the two non-Def Leppard penned songs, the sappy boy band lyrics of most of the songs along, the Swede collaborations, with the cheesy stuff like Four Letter Word just drag it down. I'm also going to admit I really do not like the album cover...it just doesn't scream "Def Leppard." They are shackling themselves with their attempts to be current.

So yeah, it's important to me that Bon Jovi pen their own material and I'd prefer they also just focus on being artists at this point instead of trying to be current.

I think it is very important. To be listening to a track and think that these are real life experiences/thoughts/emotions etc. being recorded by the same band that's performing makes it sound more real.

I couldn't say whether I'd listen to Bon Jovi or not if they didn't write their own material because they always have done. I'm sure that they wouldn't be as special to me without there own material though.

BJ just put music into their life
life changed,music also change
It's just their sense, not all other people need to accept this totally

I think good at songwriting, instrument or a good singer something like that
not on behalf of they are good preformer or good musician
