I've not watched this as I am at work but yes, this is the first time I haven't gone to see The Stones since 1994. After watching their club shows online, it just wasn't worth the ticket price in my opinion.

I did, however, see them in 2007. They were f*cking awesome and, although he certainly did cut a few corners, he was 63 years old and prowling the stage like a hungry panther... He still does. Jagger hasn't relied on his shiny-white smile in years, it's all industry with him. The whole point, right from the beginning was that if Jon SOLD these songs by moving around and being the frontman he used to be, I could forgive him losing his voice a bit. But he doesn't. Whereas Jagger has done everything possible to keep bringing his A-game.

Go out... find a 70 year-old who even SPEAKS like he did when he was 50... Mick respects his art and the tools needed to deliver it.

Watched the Europa League final yesterday, and there was Eusebio...legendary football player of Benfica. He is 71! One year older than Sir Mick. And he's a wreck. Jagger is out of this world really - I mean, come on, he certainly is the exception rather than the norm...and the fact that he has those levels of energy is unbelievable.

Coming back to Jon Bon. I think Jon does quite a bit of moving around. Less than others, but it's there. HOWEVER, the fact that no other member does anything at all, that makes it look very energyless. Not sure whether Phil X is restricted (I assume he is) but if he rocked like he does with the Drills (in terms of jumping and moving) - Jon would appear a lot more engaged too. Same goes for Hugh and Bobby. Really don't understand why Jon doesn't let them lose....not that Hugh would move, but Bobby surely is more of an entertainer than he is allowed to be with Bon Jovi. That only results in Jon being the only one in the spot-light...and all these flaws he has (and they are plenty by now, don't get me wrong) are a little bit blown out of proportion.

Good points, well made.

Saw the Stones live in 2006. Keith walking out strumming away the opening riff of Jumping Jack Flash is still one of the coolest sightings ever in my live. Yeah, he's not the singer... Jagger did fine, but they all had at least one back-up musician - except for Charlie.

Don't remember any rarities, though.

I *love* the Stones, but honestly, they sound like total shit these days. Entertaining to watch, Mick is still one of the best frontman to watch in the business..but his singing is dreadful, and the rest of the band are so sloppy and out of time I literally can't even watch a full performance these days. And Keef should be in a nursing home.
Honestly, even watch that short link posted above, that's pretty dire. I bought the 'Shine a light' DVD a few years back and couldn't get past the 2nd song, I was mortified and brought it back to the store. Was going to go to Slane a few years back too, but it put me right off.

JBJ is a far more consistent singer, current exceptions aside. He may not be the frontman he used to be, and Mick would wipe the floor with him these days, but give me JBJ any day for the vocals, and Bon Jovi for the sound of a tight band who can actually play in time.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

JBJ *was* a more consistent singer, in my opinion... but not on this tour. We've all been waiting for that improvement that comes after the first leg with Jon (because he doesn't warm his voice up for the poor people who they play to in the first month) and it's not happened.

I am just the total opposite of what you've put here... at the moment, we're getting the worst of both worlds; Jon isn't moving about a lot and his voice has nose dived compared to how it was in 2010. I'd rather he worked his voice out properly, warmed it up and looked after it and also went out there a moved around a bit. That and the fact that Mick is 19 years or so older than Jon, is why I am more forgiving of his failings and why I have a helluva lot more respect for him.

Oh, I'd love for Jon to be more active on stage. Frontmen like Jagger, Tyler, Dickenson etc all put the current JBJ to shame. But like Devilson mentioned, as its more ''The JBJ Show'' these days, there just isn't that band energy there on stage to feed off eachother that other bands have. But for the sheer amount of touring Bon Jovi have done this past decade Vs what other artists of a similar age, they haven't done bad..and have managed to be consistently erm 'above average' in my opinion, with flashes of brilliance.

As for Mick Vs JBJ as a singer, I'll just say that Jon could sing any Stones song, but I doubt Mick could belt out 'Always' or something like that (contrary to what you've said, there have been a few decent performances of that song this tour, plus a few stinkers.)

Yep, good point, I'd go along with that.

I do wish Jon would take a leaf and look after his 'tools' a little more though. No chance of him singing ANYTHING at 70 that I'd want to listen to, if his current state is anything to go by.
