Well given what Shanks managed with Jons voice on BB they can record as long as they like. They can implode right now if Jon thinks what he's doing live is acceptable though - he needs to find a way to perform songs, even if that means *gulp* TLFR versions, they'd be better than hearing him strain to the missed notes in that whiny drizzle. Of course I miss Richie but Phil's really throwing himself into this so I wouldn't mind a few albums/tours with him if Jon can sort himself out.

It's possible Jon's considered vocal surgery and the risks are too high. I had an aunt who was a great singer, had surgery, and never was able to sing again. Any surgery involves risks and every case is different.

They should've gone out on July 31st, 2011. There they could've done it with some pride, especially since some of the 2010/11 shows (including the final in Lisbon) had been massive.
Everything after that was just a ruin of their legacy

I agree with you - it should have been stopped back then when things were still good - maybe nothing totally definitive though - an open door to a come back at some point would have kept the fan base respective to anything coming from the band- To leave to an indefinite hiatus by the end of 2011 tour would have avoided the destruction of the small but somehow honest legacy they built until then (they were not influential for the world music but they were a good spirited honest band)

In a Blaze Of Glory!! But since Jon's voice is ****ed up, Richie's gone...I can't see that happening. It would've been great if they would still be together and if they'd still be in 2010/2011 state, then they could've done a pretty damn good farewell tour.
I can't believe that in 10-15 years from now the band I loved so much will be gone. Oh man...I feel so nostalgic already.

Aloha !

I'd say that ever since the release of It's My Life they have been going out slowly as a studio act, and with every show after 2011 they've been dying as a live act as well. While 1 out of 10 live shows used to make up for the bad records, the shows of the last 4 years have all been pretty bad. Bon Jovi have been going out, they're just taking way too long for it. Considering how the current live show is taking off where we left things in 2013 I'd say it's fair to say Jon hasn't got a clue as to where his band is heading.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I disagree that they should have stopped making records, there's no reason why they couldn't keep putting out music whenever, and much as a lot of people don't like the new stuff, there's always a good few songs on each album for me- and a few shit albums won't ruin any legacy like it hasn't for plenty of other artists who have been afforded the luxury of putting out absolute shit. They've earned that right, and that doesn't take away anything from Slippery/New Jersey/These Days.

However the current situation with Jon's voice and no Richie is ruining their hard worked for reputation as a great live band and they have lost that immensely after 2011. Hyde Park 2011 and 2013 were leagues apart, although I was lucky in the UK shows were certainly not the worst part of the WAN tour. If they had skipped the WAN tour, kept Richie and regrouped the band would have been in a much stronger position to carry on as a big ticket act. Now they are much more of a hard sell unless the venues shrink.

But then saying all that, personally I'm always happy for new music and seeing Bon Jovi shows so I do hope it continues in some form for the forseeable but with improvements on what we have seen this year from Jon (the band is in much better shape than in 2013).

idk where to post this article, it doesn't deserve a thread on its own so here it is!

Jon Bon Jovi: How He Really Feels About Aging, Botox And If He'll Ever Retire From Music

"I had to let vanity go. It's God's way of saying it's OK because he f**ks up your eyesight anyway. You don't look as good, but you don't see as good either," the singer once quipped.

"If I was bald and fat, in leather pants, with a big fat belly, we wouldn't be playing the big stadiums," he explained.

On what planet is Jon bald and fat? I challenge any one of you who thinks he's fat to post a picture of your perfectly svelte body that has not been airbrushed. And then to do it again when you're 53.

I think bjcrazycpa is the only one who could do it and she's got enough of a brain in her head to know that Jon is nowhere near "fat," and not even close to an unhealthy weight. And she's not a judgmental, shallow person either.

Awwww...well, thank you Miss Becky. I'm also the one closest in age to him at 51 lol!! And I would agree, on the bald and fat thing. Jon's got thinning hair and doesn't have the wash board abs but at 53 he's doing fine.
