Hugh McDonald

Alec was instrumental in the formation of the band. He's the one who knew Jon, Richie, and Tico. He told Tico and Richie that they ought to check out Jon and he arranged those contacts. It follows that all the guys have a certain level of loyalty toward Alec. His vision of who would work well in the band gave us this band that we love so dearly. Had it not been for Alec, things would have turned out very differently.

I think you'll find Hugh actually played bass on all the Bon Jovi albums since The debut "Bon Jovi", I recently found a website while browsing through google with an interview with Hugh and he stated that he came up with all of the well known BJ bass riffs i.e. Keep the Faith, Prayer etc. BUT AS WE ALL KNOW JON IS A BULLY AND CONTROLS EVERYTHING ABOUT THE BAND EVEN TO THE POINT OF CHANGING THE PAST TO MAKE HIMSELF LOOK BETTER !!!

right on rich! lol To be precise, Hugh played the bass on runaway, and on every album since SWW (SWW included)...(Note the vague answers Jon always gives to questions about this - 'he's been with us for a long time... ever since runaway... helped us out with lots of stuff' this is why i think the 'misunderstood'-line 'I tried to stretch the truth but didn't lie' is sooo funny lol- but anyway, drifting ) So that makes me wonder about the whole 'loyalty' thing and weither or not -pussosed that that is the reason- they're being loyal to the wrong guy! about a year ago my friend myriam (badlove) and i started a petition to make huey an official member (check it out at www.hueymcdonald.com). sept.7 we went to london and gave the first part of the petition to huey and he told us he'd give it to Jon the next day... now that wouldn't be a very smart thing for him to do if he didn't want to become an official member, would it.
so for those of you who are interested, the petition is still going, so check it out!

I read an interview somewhere which said Hugh had played on all the albums except 7800 F.

The same interview also said Alec was a great live bassist but was never happy in the studio - hence Hugh's involvement during the album recoridng sessions.

I reckon its probably because hugh might want it like that, and because he isn't an orginal band member.
I guess asking the oompas is probably the best way to find out

This guy should be an official member for years, no doubt. He played on Runaway and he played on a lot of BJ studio recordings, instead of Alec! Plus he is a helluva bassist, has a great voice and he's a very nice person in interviews. The one and only shame is Bon Jovi's career is not making him an official member. Rock on Huey!!!
