Hugh vs. Alec

Hugh would be called what is known as a 'studio ghost'...meaning he plays on albums, gets paid for his wrk and someone else gets the credit for it...this happens a lot in the music industry... sometimes the whole band know about it, sometimes maybe just 1 or 2 band members or at times none of the band members! they are hired to cover up shabby playing... well duuur i guess....

but yeaa...i think this is very likely...obviously Alec looked the part and they probs didnt want to let him down so they kept him on...until it went to far...but ye i think its likely Hugh's played all the bass lines on everything since Slippery atleast!

I find Alec's 'charisma' incredibly annoying. And why the hell did they give that guy a mic?

Basically that's it in a nutshell (no pun intended LOL)

Alec appeared to be much cooler due to his appearance but Hugh is a far better bassist - he plays a clean crisp bass line where Alec would blur stuff.

Just as I don't go to these shows to look at Jon - I don't go to look at the coolest bass player. I'd prefer the good bass player (even if some people here consider him a robot).

Also - there are probably a half dozen threads about these two if you search for them. They have been discussed to death here.

I left for a couple days, came back to see this thread had a ton of posts, got all excited...and no one actually talked about Richie and country.

You guys suck.

ever since Alec left the background vocals don't sound the same anymore (take one piece of the puzzle out and you loose that chemistry, bon jovi sound that was there when alec was in)

ever since Alec left, the stage performance has degraded. It's bad enough that richie doesn't play a wireless guitar setup anymore and can't move around, but now even the bass player doesn't move around anymore like before (instead they put a robot to play the bass)

ever since Alec left I have yet to hear any bootlegs or *official* (shit sounding) recordings that sound as powerful as the mixes when they had Alec. The drums don't sound as heavy and powerful anymore (especially the snare sound). Again background vocals aint the same (I don't blame the sound on the guys, but mostly the people who work with the audio and try to make them sound more like todays sound instead of that classic powerful sounding bon jovi sound back in the 80's. *cough* cough* i HATE all there new mixes that Obie has done for them*

For a while now I feel almost like Jon considers it a privlliage for his fans to be able to attend his concerts.

in the first night at the prudential gig during the end of bad name, theres a video on youtube where jon points towards the high seats and sings "bad name...thats why ur in the cheap seats baby". 14 years ago, look up born to be my baby on youtube from 1993 and at the end of the song Jon points to the top ceiling again and says "i can see you in the cheap seats!!!" makes him sound like an asshole, i have a friend who refuses to go to see them now for the LH tour since she was in the "cheap seats" during a show from the Hand tour and feels affended. it's not my fault you don't sell general admission tickets for you concerts, and have younger brother matt at backstage charge $3000 bucks for front row tickets. I was front row at a Metallica concert during the st.anger tour and front row at a Def Leppard concert during their rock of ages greatest hits tour just because they offered general admission tickets for about $110 instead of $3000 for a pair of tickets. still just because I might not like how our band works these days (like having BobBy BanDieRa in the band, refusing to acknowledge their first 2 records, not releasing a PROPERLY MIXED LIVE CONCERT DVD FROM ANY TOUR IN THE 80's, turning the band Bon Jovi as Jon Bon Jovi and Friends), doesn't mean I'm going to say Bon Jovi sucks because they don't suck, that's not fair.

back to the bass player thing, yea it sucks not having Alec. Hugh is obviously the better player between the two but it ain't Bon jovi without alec or even without tico, dave, richie, or even Jon. Bottom line, alec is bon jovi and Jon knows it thats why he said when they go down into the rock n roll hall of fame, they are going to take Alec with them.

You basically spend half your post bitching about why you hate the band and why it sucks without Alec because of 'chemistry', but then you admit at the end Hugh is the better player. Amusing.

all I'm trying to say is that just because Hugh is a much more professional bass player then Alec, doesn't mean he fits in the band better then Alec.
