Exactly. It's the best song on Crush, possibly the best since 2000. It's a great, fun rock tune, not over-pompous, living-my-life, overproduced pop-crap they've since released.

I also like the story of how Richie thought Jon's chorus (now the bridge) was bad and he wrote a better one.

You are correct...it was something like a 9 minute silence...it was long!!

Everyone has there own opinions but the best post 2000 song. Really?

Agree that there has been too much 'living-my-life, overproduced pop-crap' but surprised by the above.

Only a few that even come close. I like Just Older, Mystery Train, Bounce, RSOW, HAND, OWN (The Richie mix) and I like the Lost Highway album, but that's about it.

I wouldn't say best post 2000 but it makes my top 15 for sure. I've made a big case of this over the decade or so I've been posting here (Sigh...) but Raise Your Hands is the same as We got it goin' on. Lay Your Hands on Me is the same as One Wild Night. You can't glorify one and trash the other with a straight face, they're designed as fun party songs.

The long silence gap is to make it sound like a "hidden track", though it clearly says "13. I Could Make A Livin' Out Of Lovin' You (Bonus Track) in the back of the CD case.

I like this song, but I find Neurotica a lot better. Really, Neurotica is one of the best post-2000 songs, they should have re-recorded it and putted it on Bounce, I think it could fit there.

I agree with that to a certain extent. The issue with We Got It Goin' On for me is that it was just one It's My Life clone too much for me, and the cringeworthy "we got it goin' on" phrase that does my head in. It's something you just never, ever say to anyone unless you're deliberately taking the piss out of a situation. It almost became a catchphrase during the trip in 2011 to sum up how Jon rarely has it "goin' on" nowadays.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I don't see it as a IML clone. The subject matter, while insanely optimistic, is more band boasting than it is "I can take on the world and do anything". The only thing putting it close to IML is the use of a talkbox and it has far more swagger than anything on Crush minus OWN and the bonus tracks.

That being said it's written pretty juvenile, but so was a lot of the 80's songs, which is my original point. It just sounds like it was designed to work in a live setting and it really does.

I don't see the similarity between It's My Life and We Got It Going On, they're different songs and they are completely differnent live. It should have been a single.

We Got It Goin On is another turd for me. It's the only song on Lost Highway that makes me want to rip off my ears.

I don't see it as an It's My Life clone either, I just see it as a terrible song on an otherwise decent album.
