But ofcourse that person would know it's about more than an oil town. However, it still wouldn't be clear what Dry County would be about. Or are you saying you did understand it for the first time? Hence, there are about 90.000.000 Bon Jovi fans that still haven't got a clue what the song is about. There's a reason why Jon explained the song every time they played it during the KTF tour.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Which part of the lyrics of Always makes you think it's about a stalker then? You only know because Jon said so.

Dry County hasn't really got more metaphores then the rest of the songs on KTF en TD. Those are considered BJ's best.
The best songs are the songs that has a different meaning to each of us, regardless if you understand the writer's intention or not.

Did I understand it the first time I heard it? Actually, the first time I heard it, I was with 6 other people who were having a conversation, so I didn't really get to listen to it. But when I did get to really listen to the song, yes, it was obvious there was a lot more in it than the oil town. For me, it's hard to understand why anyone could not recognize that (unless English is not their first language because it is very, very difficult to learn the colloquialisms of another language).

Even though you don't understand the full song you can take part out of it that mean something to you. I find it kind of a spoiler when you have a song that is suited for more than one explanation and then hear Jon tell you the true meaning.

This is not true. This would mean that a song with lyrics that are filled with metaphores and that need to be read 10 times before you'd understand them would be better. Complete nonsense.

I never said someone wouldn't understand that it's about something else than a dry country. I said that's in almost impossible to understand what exactly it ís about.

Thank you for your contribution, but that's not what we're talking about. I thought you hated it when people went offtopic on your own forum? Why are you doing it here you dumb poopyface.

I don't really understand why you say that. metaphors are used by many artists - so, one should understand it (or interpret it as they seem fit) regardless of who wrote it and regardless of knowing the background of the singer/band.

I do like songs with lots of metaphors a lot better than plain obvious ones - I find the obvious ones boring.

Never heard him explain what the song was all about, so I might just 'think' I know what it's all about...., but I don't find that song too hard to understand - native speaker or not.

The most profound song to me is Something to Believe In. Jon kept saying it was a postitive song and I kept wondering what he was smoking because on the surface it sounds so negative, then one day I heard it a little differently--same words, different stress, and the entire meaning changed. That one really made me think.
I thought you didnt like that song...due to certain lyrics O.o
