I think critics are so hard on Bon Jovi because, it's sad to say that after 20 years of proving they are a rock band to contend with, they are still viewed as pretty boys who's popularity is due to their good looks. It's like they don't want to admit they were wrong so they refuse to give Jovi the credit they are due. It's unbelievable how many people still think the only reason I like Bon Jovi is because they are easy on the eyes or because I am from New Jersey. It's really quite irritating.

Gabor --> How can you say that Oasis is a rip-off of the Beatles and never heard one single song of them? I think it's very irritating that people judge a band when they never heard songs from that band. Some people here are very irritated when people, who only heard one song from BJ, say negative things about BJ. And now you're doing the same thing to Oasis???

I also noticed the similarity between the two songs. especially the chorus and I agree with MewFan that it doesn't have to be a bad thing. And why can't BJ be inspired by Oasis? Why does it have to be the other way round? Just because BJ is around for a longer period?
Oasis is also a class RnR band ad not a Beatles rip-off! Sure they are influenced and sure some songs are a bit too similar to Beatles songs, but the majority of their songs is not Beatlesque at all.

trust me mate its not a rip off of stay young. i have both songs, know them well and can play them on the guitar. invincible may appear "almost" at the same point but the melodies are different and thge chord progressions are different too. a little more thought before posting stuff like this considering ive known both songs for years are very musical and have never thought they sounded similar.

not wanted to sound holier than thou or any bullshit like that but musically they really are nothing alike.

Firstly I have to agree with the person criticising the idiots who have never heard an Oasis song and then claim to call the band rubbish. You people are complete hypocrits. Is it because Noel and Liam don't smile at the girls when they sing? or try and sell music with their looks? (not saying BJ do this). For your information Jon stated in a interview in a UK paper that he was listening to a lot of Oasis whilst writing Destination Anywhere and asked them to tour with him in which Noel declined. Cpt Crash and Stay Young DO SOUND SIMILAR, it's a fact. Jon has stated his admiration for Oasis, along with many many other artists including people like:

Bono
Burt Bacharach
Paul Weller
Sir Paul McCartney
Sting
Prince
George Michael
Robbie Williams
Mick Jagger
Neil Young

To be fair that is a pretty impressive list. So, for all you people who slag off Oasis without actually knowing any of theit stuff I have one thing to say to you. "YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO ROCK N ROLL" and why you bother supporting a band like Bon Jovi I will never know. What are you? a glorified "teen bopper" who loves a band because of what they say and how they look? or a fan of Rock N Roll music?

I wonder what Jon would prefer his fans to like more... the way they look? or the music they make. I have the impression that they're a lot of fans in here will fall into the first of those two categories.

I think half the problem with Bon Jovi not getting the recognition they deserve from the industry and media is because of fans like that. Go Away, Bon Jovi aren't a boy band for the girls who are too old to fancy A1 and N Sync and all that sh*t. They are a rock n roll band.
Dear Dear me

Its only Rock N Roll but I LIKE IT!!!!!

artist I dislike most in all of music:
Oasis :P my god it is so not rock n roll and the vocals are terrible. Champagne super nova and wonderwall pure torture to listen too.

artist I like most in the history of music:
Bon Jovi I love rockers, mid tempo, and ballads and nobody does all 3 better than Bon Jovi. Amen brother.

Bon Jovi may admire Oasis, but Oasis has dissed Bon Jovi in the past and that doesn't impress me. I don't like bands who have no taste and respect.

Oasis don't mind saying what they think of any other band anyway.
What have they said about Bon Jovi?
How would they mess with a band that many would call rock gods?

Jim Bon Jovi: Sorry if I'd have known that you have known both songs for years then I wouldn't have posted what I did. How many years have you known Captain Crash? 4, 5, 6?

Look son, because you don't find them similar, and by your submission you are 'very musical', doesnt mean that your opinion is final. If you want to discuss music with me then I can teach you the physics of harmonics, or maybe how to find the name of a complicated chord. You can play pinched harmonics, but do you know why they sound like they do? Or why they sound different if played in different positions?

For a song to sound the same, it doesn't have to have the same chord progression; depending on the key of the song, I could sing a melody, using the notes in the scale of the key, and play any chords from that key in the background. Different versions of this melody, using different chords, will still sound similar.

The only proof needed that shows that they must be similar is that many many people, from different sources, have commented on it, so I cant argue with that.

Maybe you could ask your music teacher at college to explain it to you, and while you are they, ask him to teach you the theory of capital letters, and their use in the modern English language.

He he, nice one Personally I don't know the Oasis one, so I'm staying out of it, and enjoying your argument from a spectators point of view. Keep up the good work....

Thank you, I have decided just to argue with people who 'bring it on' from now on.
