I'm not the biggest fan of this song, it's alright.

Anyway I really dig this song. Love the lyrics and vocals and the guitar makes me all tingly inside.

When love is blood you're never on trial
It don't get deeper than a mother and child
Oh baby I GOTTA GET THAT CLOSE TO YOU
TELL ME WHAT I GOTTA DO TO MAKE MY LIFE MEAN MORE TO YOU

It's killer.
That's my favourite bit

Love this song. Can't really read too much into it (however, I do like the concept as pointed out by the Walrus), it's just something crazy to loose yourself in.

Funny, I'd never seen it that way but it makes a lot of sense.

About IIWYM, I really like it, always have. It's heavy (well, you know) and it just explodes out of nowhere (I think I've read this somewhere on this thread. lol). The lyrics were weird when I was 12 but now they actually make (some) sense. You want someone so bad and you feel you'd only be as close to them as you want to be if you were the person who'd given birth to them.

I love the song, but I wish they dropped it on the album. Let me explain: it would sound nicer if BOR went right into DC and they put IIWYM somewhere else on the album.

I love it. The lyrics are a bit cheesy in places but the raw emotion in the delivery of the song more than makes up for it.

It'd be amazing to hear it live, although I agree that Jon probably wouldn't be able to pull it off, not even with his recent vocal resurgence. But still, anything even approaching THIS level of awesomeness would be very welcome!

I also love the way that In These Arms, Bed Of Roses and If I Was Your Mother seem to form a kind of trilogy on the album. My interpretation of ITA is that it's not a love song, it's about a guy who will say anything to get the girl into bed. Then we move onto BOR, which is a love song, and then IIWYM, which is about full blown obsession. They're all about wanting someone in different ways, and the progression of themes gives the album a great flow, IMO
Agree totally.. I love that it is very different to anything else on the album...that is a great live performance you linked as well.

Hubby has rigged up his own super duper surround sound set up here...we have very high ceilings and floorboards throughout the house under the carpet...when this song is cranked up to a seriously booming bass level, the entire floor reverberates and drives the bass right back straight up your legs and into your gut [the way all great music should]...would have loved to have been in Quebec when this was played.

I like the heavy feel of the song, but i agree with some of you that bon jovi have not quite pulled it off... but i would definitely love it if the band to make more efforts in that direction, 2 or 3 in every album...

This is one of my favorite Jovi songs. Rock and Roll. I beg to differ with the comments that the song is "shit". Bon Jovi does not record shit. This is a great rock song with very interesting lyrics. Very creative I think. My favorite song on Faith besides DryCounty (now there is a masterpiece). Those 2 songs are perfect examples of what I signed on for when I jumped on the Jovi wagon in 1985. What I didn't sign up for was the country music album we released. Not to say I hate it nor do I even dislike it-it is simply not my Bon Jovi.
Anyway-IIWYM is a great song. Period.
