If the Band Didnt Use the Name Bon Jovi, Would They Be More Accepted?

I meant from people who hates them. Lets face it, the majority - its either love or hate Bon Jovi. And most of the reasons I guess is cuz not of the "cheesy"music(though they want to point that out too) but cuz when they hear Bon Jovi, they can think of pretty boy - Jon. Thus, most guys think its gay to like Bon Jovi or some such thing.

If they named their band something else, do you think people will be less ashamed of admitting they like them/haters will not hate them as much?

but decided to shorten his name and cut out his italian routes to bon jovi (btw he slags J Lo off for doin this even thou he did i 20 years previous)

also the band would have always been called Bon Jovi it was jons band not richies, alecs, Ticos or that tramp who plays keyboard

although i have a feeling someones gonna come up with some names the band was suggested to be called by the record company......

Uh my point is, not whether they should have changed their band name, but if people would have accepted them more - esp. these days - if they did.

Why it always have to be like Rolling Stones, Guns And Roses or something. They sound dumb. There is no connection between the band and the name...
Bon Jovi is better than some sleezy name which means nothing...
Ofcource it is kind of weird name but for me it works. It's better than Bruce Springsteen And The East Street Band, Southside Johnny And The Asbury Jukes, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers or in this case John Bongiovi And The Quatro

Consider POISON. Not exactly a friendly name. It sounds kind of dangerous. It COULD be the name of a heavy metal band. But they had pretty boys and made melodic rock. Their name wouldn't have made them any more acceptable to the kinds of fans you're talking about.

The band was named Bon Jovi because the record company wanted to capitalize on the fact that Runaway was already getting exposure under the name "John Bongiovi." They wanted a solo artist. Jon wanted a band. They wanted a less ethnic sounding name, so they suggested the stage name. They wanted Alec replaced with a younger better looking guy. The compromise was give Jon a stage name, name the band after Jon (a la Van Halen, extremely popular at the time), and Jon got to keep Alec.

No. They just wanted to replace Alec. They did, however, lie about Tico and Alec's ages in the initial biographies.
