I have a great performance from New years eve '88, jon and richies are both on top form. I prefer richie singing it but although dave is doing a good job with the backing vocals it just isn't the same without jon then richies singing " baby, you know my hands are dirty" as they did in the late 80's

i haven't heard that many versions from the 80s, but the versions i have heard of more recent concerts are better than the ones i have heard from the 80s. i absolutely love the extra lyrics that Jon throws in there after the last chorus. did he do that in the 80s? in the versions i have heard he didn't. when i saw them in concert in Feb. i liked Richie singing it, but i missed those extra lyrics at the end by Jon.

you have to find some of these versions ... it's beautiful ... it's true Letitrock, you can feel the passion, it's great !
