Improving Have A Nice Day and Lost Highway

Unbreakable sucks. I'm glad this boyband ripoff is not on the album.

Dirty Little Secret is great, and Nothing is pretty good. These two should be on the album. Wildflower's gotta go. The rest can stay, although the original chorus lyric of I Wanna Be Loved and the inclusion of the breakdown in HAND would be appreciated.

Lost Highway sucks dicks either way. One decent song (Any Other Day) doesn't warrant hectic shuffling of bonus tracks, it won't ammount to a good album any way you slice it.

I'm really thrilled about why people hate Lost Highway so much, everyone always says that it's not honest... Because they didn't do rock it isn't honest? Or that it sucks, without explaining.

I think DLS, TOA, and Nothing all belong on HAND and would make their 2nd best post 2000 album an even better one.

Where we disagree, I believe that One last Cigarette and Novocaine (along with Story of My Life and to a lesser degree, I Am) are the songs that give HAND color and ultimately make it a great record.

I would trade the three b-sides for Complicated, Wildflower, and Bells of Freedom. Complicated was easy to throw off... not a bad song, but if Jon was reall concerned about the album being too formulaic, then it should have been the first to go. Bells is a little hard to get rid of. I really like the song but the title is sooo cheesy... so cheesy.

And there is a special place in hell that has Unbreakable on repeat.

Lost Highway is a little different story. There is nothing to save it from being just an "okay" record. Lonely is the only b-side that could have made the album... but again, like the majority of the album, it is just okay.

Though are tastes are slightly different, I enjoyed your post. This is the kind of stuff I like to think about when I have time to think about things that have no real importance.

The best way to improve HAND and LH is simple: they should have written better songs for them !!

To me, most of the arrangements sound incredibly forced and / or cheesy. Plus I just don't like most of the songwriting.

I always marvel at how different opinions can be from one person to another, as I think your improved HAND actually removed the (by far) two best songs on the record.

Slightly longer outro on Leanns, a different guitar lick here and here. Nothing all that different, at least not worth switching out the versions.

It's more country-ish, you can hear some violins and that country instrument that I don't know how's called; the difference is even more clear that the one of Memory/Memory Single.

Agree, those songs belong to the record. About Last Cigarette, I can't stand it, and Novocaine is a "meh" song.

Yes? I used to hate it, but then I started thinking that it has this radio-friendly-hit-wannabe think, so it should have been on the record. Would've been a good second single.

I find this HAND more listeanable than the original one, but it was my vision according to my tastes, I wasn't expecting that everyone would love it because, as you say, everyone tastes are different. Thanks for your comment!
