Default Interview from CT's Capital Request transcript

This was e-mailed to me, so I have no idea who gets credit for making the transcript.

Backstage Interviews From CT's Capital Request>

Welcome to London. You've been here many times before, but what's it like being here this time?
Jon: Like the last time, and like the next time!
Richie: I'm not getting hit by a lighting rig this time I hope. The lasttime
we played here, a lighting rig came down a little too low and scalped me -
that was the end of the show! There was blood everywhere.>
You've done 'Party In The Park' before for us. Did you enjoy it?
Jon: I remember playing it in the pouring rain and then running off thestage to a car and flying to Tokyo. Tonight we play for Tarrant again, andtomorrow we have to go to Tokyo!
Richie: Every time we play for him we've got to take a 14-hour flight
afterwards!
You guys just flew in this morning, are you a bit jet lagged?
Jon: We haven't even had a chance to deal with jet lag yet. It's just lotsof
coffee, but it's fun to be playing.
You've just come from the biggest gig of your career - half a millionpeople
in New York - how did that feel?
Jon: A baby's arm with a boxing glove! Right now in New York it's aconfusing time because nobody really knows how to pay the proper respects to 9/11.But it's a resilient New York who's bouncing back in these difficult times. Though the healing will never be over, it's one step closer to beingbetter.
Tell us about your latest album?
Jon: It's a great record and we're very proud of it. People seem to really
like it. It's just one step further down the road. You think every record'sa
progression, that's the point and that's the goal.>
Why do you think you've had so much success?
Richie: You have to remain true to your style and who you are because I think the fans would definitely know if you're not. But yet, musically you do have to evolve and keep going - we need to be interested as much as the people need to be interested.>
You seem to be ever increasing your fan base with every release...
Jon: That happened with 'Crush' for sure, and we did cross over generations and that's pretty amazing. We didn't set out to do that, it's just happened for us. We're one of the few that have been able to maintain your old fan base and be bringing new people on.>
How do you think you've managed to do that?
Richie: We all have a common goal that we just want to be better at what we do, we still like each other, we make good music and it's fun.
