I would say that people since Bounce are new fans. Just because they haven't been around for a long time yet. But they'll get there, too!
No they won't. Because if you look at the topics, you've got people slagging off Homebound Train, Fear, If I Was Your Mother.... i.e Bon Jovi's rock songs. If you listen to Bounce, then go out and buy Slippery, and realise it's more or less a different band, and you love Slippery as much, then sure. But in all fairness, the people who get into Jovi thorugh Crush don't buy the album because Bon Jovi are a rock band, but because it's popular, and it is a pop album..... If you buy a pop album, it's beacuse you like pop music, so it follows that they are pop fans..... If you're an old fan, then you have to like rock music; Othewise you woudn't like the first four albums, so wouldn't really be that long a fan, plus you'd only like about 4 songs out of the fisrt 5 albums!!!!!!!!!

"But they'll get there, too! " Possiably, but that's because Bon Jovi persist in churning out pop albums, playing to the pop audiance. Whilst the band are still popular, they'll listen to them, if Bon Jovi wasn't cool anymore, and they put out pop albums, there would be no new fans, and the new fans would drift away.

No, you got into Bon Jovi through a predominantly rock album..... Runaway, Lay Your Hands, In and Out Of Love, Bad Name, Wanted, Prayer..... You got into the band in a sort of synopsis of their carear, which shows that you do like what makes Bon Jovi Bon Jovi.

Technically no; but to someone who's been around prior to KTF, it does seem like a fan since KTF would be a "new" fan because they missed so much--and they didn't have to suffer through the first hiatus when everywhere you turned you were hearing that Bon Jovi broke up. LOL

I couldn't have said it any better, Becky. The first hiatus was tough for those of us who were around before KTF. Good point. However, someone who has been following the band for 11 years cannot be labelled a "new" fan.

I consider new fans to be folks who discovered the band through "Bounce" or particularly "Crush" since a lot of new fans came on board with "It's My Life".

Anyone prior to "Crush" is an older fan. Anyone before "Keep The Faith" (i.e. SWW or NJ) is a long-time fan. And anyone since "Runaway" is a "lifer".

All just my humble opinion, of course.

If nothing else, I think there might be two types of fans: Pre-KTF and KTF and afterward. I've gotten to know a lot of fans through the years and there is a difference between the people who were fans through the 80's and stuck around and those who caught on later. I'm not saying it's better or worse, but there is a difference.

New fans are fans since Crush and Bounce. KTF was 10 years ago, where has the time gone!

Give some credit to people, eh? Just because they only recently discovered the wonders of Bon Jovi or just because they're young in years doesn't make them stupid. Yes, there are people who buy Crush for the pop in it, and forget about Bon Jovi when a new boy band is formed. Those are not fans. The fans are those people who stick to BJ and get the earlier albums, too... And to be a fan, an old one or a new one or a die-hard fan, you don't need to be a hard-rock-Bon-Jovi-hair-metal-80s-rules sort of a fan. Bon Jovi keeps on getting new fans, new generations of fans, and that makes me happy!

No, a fan isn't somebody who buys all the albums, buys all the singles, wears the t-shirts, has the tatoo's, has the numberplate, and only ever listens, and talks about Bon Jovi. Fan means fanatical, so therefore, a person who buys all the current albums, walpaper e.t.c but can't stand the music, is more of a fan than somebody who's been there from the start, who's loved everything the band has done.
If they are fanatical about the band at the time, then they are fans at that time. I don't like it, I really wish they weren't fans but they are, and as far as Bon Jovi are concerned they're probably more valuable fans than me, as they'll buy the singles, picture books e.t.c that dnon't interest me because I'm interested in the music.

If you listen to the first 4/5 albums, they are rock albums. If you listen to them and hear something different, then you''re not listening to the same albums I am. If you like the 4/5 albums (i.e over half of Bon Jovi's work), but don't like Rock music then it just doesn't make sence.
