I never got that one. Every Breath you Take is soooo obviously about a sicko, I'd be deathly afraid if my soon to be spouse would suggest that song on our wedding.

Not so with Always, though. I still am having a hard time putting it into the stalker context.

One rock singer/songwriter said this last year:

"I heard that some DJ in Seattle was offering concert tickets to any caller that could tell him what "Girl's Not Grey" is about. No one even called in. To me this song has a very special meaning, I wrote it about something very personal that some people could find interesting and others not. I remember when I was a kid I heard a great song on the radio and I really liked it for a long time but then I heard the artist say what the song was about and it totally destroyed everything I ever felt for that song. I hate that damn song to this day.... The best you can do is find your own meaning to a song you like and stick to it... I'm not gonna tell you what my songs are about."

See, this guy put it down perfectly. Let everone make their own deception about the song and that way it is gonna make a lasting impression on every fan. If you tell them what a song is about than it just might ruin it for half your fans...

I've heard people play "I'll always love you"..you know the song by Dolly Parton, that was covered by Whitney....at their wedding. And that song is about breaking up.

I always thought of that song as the ultimate stalker song! I mean, "Every move you make, every smile you fake, I'll be watching you..." Who, other than a stalker, would say that?! :P
My opinion on Always was that it was just a love song. After I heard Jon say that it was about a stalker, I was shocked! But the more I listened to it, the more I realized that it was a song about a guy who was having difficulty letting go after a breakup, so he begins to follow the girl in hopes that she will go back to him. In other words, yeah, its a stalker song. :P

having difficulty letting go, doesn't make one a stalker and I don't find any reference of him following her. Definitely not a stalker song - even though he wanted to write one - now If I was your Mother would classify much easier as a stalker song.

Always
J. Bon Jovi

This romeo is bleeding
But you can't see his blood
It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up

It's been raining since you left me
Now I'm drowning in the flood
You see I've always been a fighter
But without you I give up
Now I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be
Well, I guess I'm not that good anymore
But baby, that's just me

And I will love you, baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine
Till the heavens burst and
The words don't rhyme
And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you - Always

Now your pictures that you left behind
Are just memories of a different life
Some that made us laugh, some that made us cry
One that made you have to say goodbye
What I'd give to run my fingers through your hair
To touch your lips, to hold you near
When you say your prayers try to understand
I've made mistakes, I'm just a man

When he holds you close, when he pulls you near
When he says the words you've been needing to hear
I'll wish I was him 'cause those words are mine
To say to you till the end of time

Yeah, I will love you baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always

If you told me to cry for you
I could
If you told me to die for you
I would
Take a look at my face
There's no price I won't pay
To say these words to you
Well, there ain't no luck
In these loaded dice
But baby if you give me just one more try
We can pack up our old dreams
And our old lives
We'll find a place where the sun still shines

And I will love you, baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine
Till the heavens burst and
The words don't rhyme
And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you - Always

I still see Always as love-lost song. I don't see If I was Your Mother as a stalker song, though looking at the lyrics, I can see how others would have that perception...

When love is blood
You're never on trial
It don't get deeper
Than a mother and child

It is believed that there is no stronger bond than a mother and child. To me the song is about how he wants to have the same kind of bond.

Yes, and that spells PSYCHO to me :P

I am not saying Mother is a song about a stalker, but it is definitely more about a psycho than Always is. Just mho.

personally I think that both Always and If I was your mother are about some guy who is obsessed with some woman...

of course I always say that a person hears in a song what they put into it. What I mean is, people all hear something different...I dunno if I'm making any sense or not.

Always: a love song, a special one, it doesn't have to be a stalker just lusting about a love already lost, making endless promises etc...

If I was you mother: Definetly about a psycho stalker, this to me i about a guy that is so in love with this woman that the only way he can get closer to her is to actually give birth to her.
(ps. I'm sure I almost quoted Jon on this one. )
