But it does make me believe that if they released a worthwhile single (which I do believe there is on this record), this album could sell just as much as The Circle.

I understand you believe this to be true, but really Because We Can is the most commercial song on the record. Would a new single (with the cost of marketing etc) be worth doing, I mean the best that could be hoped is that it would be mildly successful. If it even found moderate success, how many more albums would it ultimately shift? 100k, 200k?
The album has tanked. If it had been a good Bon Jovi record, more Bon Jovi fans would have bought it. The point is if it was going to sell 3 million for example it would already be well on its way to that because Bon Jovi fans would already have bought it.
I am sure there are more than 600,000 Bon Jovi fans (I read somewhere there was 100,000,000) and the truth is many have stayed away from this album. I have not bought it for example, and probably never will. If it had been good I would have though, and I am sure there are many more like me.
We keep comparing WAN to what is going on today, but we shouldn't. It should be compared to what we know Bon Jovi could do, and you and me know even in today's climate that it could be a lot more than 600+ thousand copies. It all comes down to the songs, it always will. If they had been good it would have found its own success.
Bon Jovi should not chase trends, in fact they should wake up an realize they are the trend. They have enough fans with quality material to ensure every release is a success. It is not just today's music market that is ****ed, the Bon Jovi market is too, but only because the band saturated their own market.
