as a songwriter i can pretty much gaurantee that they're not as romantic and sweet as the songs make out. no one is.

Maybe.... but I like to imagine they are. Whether they are or they aren't they have written some of THE MOST romantic lyrics of any band imo....

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

what's romantic about making money out of [a song about] cheating on your wife?

Of course guys can be that romantic, my husband happens to be one of them. He's more romantic than me by far, he writes me love songs (that are romantic and personal but not soppy), tells me to take my time when getting ready (and watches me do it) etc etc. He doesn't bring me roses though, he knows I much appreciate a nice cup of tea over a bunch of flowers I'm definitely a cheap date as well.

There's a lot of criticism that songs like Always are manufactured to suit a certain type of audience, that they are the result of cold-blooded manipulation than a romantic heart (mind?). I personally think that poet needs the pain, and you can't write a hit ballad without having those feelings in you. I'm sure they are not romantic all the time, no one is, but I'm sure that as artists they have the romantic streak in them.

One of the most romantic love songs has to be Wonderful Tonight, the lyrics are absolutely heart-breakingly romantic. And I'm sure that song is "for real".
