Default Is it the songs? the band image? or the industry?

No hits for a while now, when do they cross over into the nostalgia act jon is so desperate to avoid?

so whats to blame?
are the songs not good enough??
is it the fact bon jovi are writing the songs and not jessie j or bruno mars etc?
or is the industry loosing the likes of bon jovi who are now more likley to have no1 albums and tours as opposed to no 1 singles anymore

thoughts please??

I'd place it on the industry mostly. The industry demands teeny-bopper and one-hit-wonder pop tunes right now, and Bon Jovi (no matter how much they might seem to try sometimes) don't put those out. They may still put out good music, but it doesn't fit the current charts.

IMO the lack of 'hits' from the last few albums has been poor choice of singles.

The singles from The Circle were especially bad (apart from Superman Tonight), WWBTF and WWWB were just terrible songs, let alone hit singles. There were far better songs on the album that prpbably would have done a lot better.... Thorn In My Side, Brokenpromiseland & Love's The Only Rule are awesome songs. Why Jon didn't chose them is beyond me!

They may not be charting well, but they're still getting a lot of airplay, at least on satellite radio. I hear WWBTF, Make a Memory, Lost Highway, and Superman Tonight all on a regular basis.

Can't actually remember the last time I heard a recent Jovi song played on the radio. Very occaisionally hear Prayer, but thats about it.

It's also worth taking into account how different the definition of a "hit" song is in today's music industry.

IMO its a combination of all the named factors. bj have to hit a nerve or to wait the music cycle in a way in order to have a hit like its my life. its a bit weird because even if they put out good songs thats still not good enough, they have to put sth timeless-refreshing etc etc...for many years i believed it was the poor single choises, and many times maybe they could/should have made better ones but now i dont really think thats the main reason...everyone has some favourite songs, that doesnt seem they d work as singles...having said all that i trully believe that because of jons choises-leadership and work eethic bj status improves and becomes more and more strong, they are classic not nostalgia, they avoided all the dramas(at leats most of them),no break ups, scandals, comebacks, remixes, farewell tour etc...and the public seems to aknowledge that.
every tour is bigger, their hunger for new music etc seems to be there so i honestly believe they are closer to become rock icons(if they arent already) than a nostalgia rock band.

Bon Jovi were never favorites. Only a great rock album could change things, and this is almost impossible today. Although I never lose total faith in them.

I think it's mostly the industry honestly. It seems to be dominated by young people and most don't want to hear an "old band" like Bon Jovi.

Agree. Tha last time I hear several times a day Bon Jovi on the radios was back in 2000 the Crush singles, ever since, I have never ever heard any single of the later albums on the mexican radio station. I rarely (almost never) hear Livin' On A Prayer, Always, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Como Yo Nadie Te Ha Amado and It's My Life, only the old and new fans still buying Bon Jovi albums, and thank to God we are a considerable amount here in Mexico.
