They can't release another These Days album or a SWW album or NJ album etc, even if they do it, it won't have any success and they know that.
As regarding the radio, here in Greece we don't even have a rock radio channel rofl... Always same kind of crappy pop music...
Music Industries used to care about Rock Music and try to promote them, now they don't give a flying f*ck about this kind of music, about the real music, they just care about $$, €€ etc. Bon Jovi still has the skills to create another great album and a commercial hit album, but it's about the tune also... Personally I want to see in 2013 the new Bon Jovi album with a clear HARD ROCK/ROCK sound and as usually they'll include 2-3 ballads.

It's funny When we say that rock is not Successful, however are the Most Successful Usually. The biggest hits foo fighters The Pretender and Best of You, two rock songs mainstrain.

The songs on the radio who fail, are just pop songs: What do you Got, Make a Memory, Welcome to Wherever you are, Say It Isn't So ...

I think the answer is go for it, maintaining a solid rock album with a couple of hits instead of just one.

It has some major hits.
I'd argue that only 3-5 of those could be considered big hits. For sure Beautiful Day, Vertigo, and City of Blinding Lights. Maybe Walk On and Elevation could be included there...

Compared to Bon Jovi's output, it's pretty similar. I'd argue that Bon Jovi have about 5 big hits since 2000. I'd say It's My Life, Who Says, Have A Nice Day, Make a Memory, and possibly Everyday or Thank You for Loving Me.

Here in Italy the ones which are very famous from the last decade are It's My Life, Thank You For Loving Me (also thanks to the videoclip!), Everyday and Have A Nice Day. These are the songs that did well on the charts.

I think they need to release another great hit. I was hoping to have it with the GH, because a GH with all those hits after almost 30 years just needed a great hit to be released! But they put out What Do You Got................. -_-

As I don't know what country you are from, obviously each market is different, but in the UK as I stated earlier it is 12 top 5 hits for U2 Vs Bon Jovi's 3. And U2 have had many more number 1 singles/albums than Jovi.

But I don't want to get into that 'who is better'' argument again by throwing statistics about, I am merely interested in seeing how other bands do it, and get the respect and recognition they do, whilst Bon Jovi sometimes miss out.

As for singles, Like i said earlier, they are more or less a dead format for this type of band who has been in the business for so long. Just look at that last few years output for Jovi in the UK singles chart;

since Lost Highway there has been around 10 single 'releases', and only around 4 have even charted in the UK, at numbers 25 (born to follow),33 (MAM), 117 (LH) and 127 (WDYG). Hardly impressive.

So what I am saying is Jon should stop trying to chase the next big hit single smash as it is clearly not working, and just write a damn good bunch of songs!

JBJ - I believe

Amen, brotha! I think there has to be, at least I hope there will be, some period of adjustment where Jon realises that Bon Jovi are past the point of being a band that will have big hit singles. I believe for Bon Jovi to continue to be successful, they need to follow the Bruce Springsteen model; forget about singles, write great songs, make great albums that chart well, tour the world filling stadiums everywhere you go, and be happy!

Its not the Industrys fault that Jovi havent had a decent and I mean proper decent album since These Days. But I can see what you mean in a way cos even if they did release a cracker of the album the industry isnt as powerful as it once was. Bands dont make much money from albums unless they go huge.

Jovi no matter what they do are still seen as a 80s hair band.

Lost Highway and songs like WSYCGH have pretty much killed off the casual fan while the infuriate most die hards.

In the UK id say two songs since 2000. Everyday and Its My Life. The rest enter the charts and fall out the following week.

They need another Always - in terms of a song thats in the charts for months. That song in the UK bounced around 2, 3 and 4 for about 12 weeks and was still hanging around a few months after.

Look at Coldpays - Paradise. Xmas no1 and still being played today and still in the charts.
