I actually don't like almost half of No Line On The Horizon, but Stand Up Comedy is one of my favorites on that album. Has a real Led Zeppelin guitar riff at the beginning.

Yea, same here. I don't hear too much on any older great songs. It's seems it's all advertising and the same playlists on repeat.

I know i'm going to get flamed for this but Train's been around since the late 90's, Pat Monahan's 43, not the youngest chap out there but they're definitely still a relevant band despite fading away between 2003-2009 after "For Me It's You" flopped.

In the past Bon Jovi have taken influence from Train though I don't think they took the right bits. They should focus more on the namesake album and Drops of Jupiter album as a whole, there are some great radio friendly pop/rock gems in there and they'll still be taken seriously, this won't be the case with anything from Save Me San Francisco or California 37.

Like the majority, I too would like a solid list of HAND-esque rock tracks, though I do believe if Bon Jovi want to re-enter the mainstream arena, they should take from bands that've survived in an era of hip hop and junk by producing solid pop/rock albums.

P.S. No, Train isn't only about Ukulele's and acoustic guitars with overly simplified lyrics.

Take out the shitters from both bands, and I'd set U2's and Bon Jovi's post-2000 output at about equal.
I agree completely. I'd say their about equal with good/great/epic songs since Crush/All That You Can't Leave Behind.

However, everyone's taste is different, but here is my opinion: I hated 70% of "how to dismantle..." but I think "No Line..." is their 2nd best album to date. Bon Jovi hasn't released one of those albums since Crush. So from my point of view U2 has recently released something that makes me excited about things to come, with Bon Jovi all I have is hope.

If they're going to do pop/pop rock music, I'm fine with that. Just make it GOOD pop music, not the adult contemporary bullshit they've released recently.

Then find a new band. Bon Jovi ALWAYS have and ALWAYS will have pop influences.

Couldn't have put it better myself, i'm not a Train diehard, not crazy about them but what sets them apart is even though they're in their early 40's they're able to connect with teen audiences as well as people in the mid-20's with more mature songs. Sometimes I feel that Jon is aiming his songs at people his own age and being 17, there's a huge disconnect.

Jon seems SOLELY focused on airplay and radio friendly singles, unfortunately for him, 50 year olds don't have much of a say on what plays on the radio. If he stands any chance of making it big again, it's going to be in a solid pop track.

I remember hearing WDYG on the radio in the car with a bunch of friends and someone said "Man, you like this crap? This has gotta be the stupidest attempt at a rock song I've heard in a while." Unfortunately I can't argue with that, it's borderline embarrassing.
