Well, anyone who has listened to Jon closely over the past few years can tell that sometimes he is really struggling. You'll notice it most on high notes where he really starts slurring the sounds together and can't articulate. Also, you'll notice most the time he tries squeezing the high notes out of his nose and you get a real sharp, grating sound.

In a live setting, that's more likely to happen. But even in the studio it's becoming apparent that the top range is just gone. Listen to "BTBMB" on TLFR.. he can hardly sing the chorus and it's a shame.

At times, he puts the new sound to great use ala YGLABN on TLFR.. perfect fit. Other times, it's sad and makes you miss the old days.

Am I the only one that thinks Jon just sounds wierd on "Thank You For Loving Me" ? It doesn't sound that great on crush, but some of the live performances of it were really bad vocally.

Don't get me wrong, I like the sound of the lower register now, but you can tell he's lost the confidence in any ability to sing with power and conviction in the higher range. How that will affect future albums remains to be seen. And, of course, there are good nights.
