- 7800 was released in March of 1985

The Tour started in April of 1985 and ended December 31st 1985

- Recording sessions for Slippery took place between January and July 1986 at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, Canada.

- Slippery was released in August 1986.

There was literally no time off in between... If songs were written in Richie's basement as Jon stated, it must have been in early January within a two week window before heading to Vancouver... They could have done some writing on the road but the incident that happened in 1984 was light years away from Slippery When Wet...

That was always on my mind when I was hearing the song back in the day and it would make me chuckle. I'm into both guys and girls so it was always like 'hhmmm wonder if it's her'.

Do you know for a fact Lampinen? What do you base that on? As far as I know, Bon Jovi only worked with Vixen later on in their career.

Thanks for this. Based on the info you provide, it's probably one year and 8-9 months between this incident and the recording of Slippery. They would have written the song earlier anyway, so a bit more than a year. Who knows? I mean, it's definitely not light years to me. Not even normal earth yearS.

Anyhow - since I don't see any references to the song directly from the source, we'll never know I guess. I met Richie a few times but I never thought of asking this. Hope I get to ask him when he's back on tour. Will come back and let you all know.

Thank you for all your answers, I dearly appreciate it.

You know, I was really sure of this, but not anymore. I vaguely remember coming to the conclusion that it was Petrucci some 10 years ago when I was an avid reader of Metal Sludge. I did a quick search now and found nothing that could confirm it. Maybe I just connected the dots at the time and took it for a fact. Really can't be sure anymore.

After this came up, I recalled an interview where Jon was asked about the opening to "Social Disease" and I thought I remembered something about some girls Richie knew from L.A. (actually California, it turns out) who gave him the King of Swing nickname. After re-reading the article, I suppose an argument could be made for Lita or Roxy (The "girlfriend" reference in Lampinen's theory about Roxy makes sense; but girls often refer to their friends as "my girlfriend" so it could also refer to Toni or any other friend).

According to Wiki on Lita, she was raised in L.A.; and The Rainbow (one of the clubs on the Strip) was a hangout for the producer of the Runaways.

From "Sad Song Night", Playboy interview:

Quote:
"...Does that mean that the lady heard moaning (“ohhh, uuuhhhh, ohhhh, right there, ohhhh........... you mean that’s it?!”) in abruptly terminated ecstasy at the start of Social Disease was one of the No 5‘s talent roster?

“Nah, that’s Dirty Angie,” says Bon Jovi. “She wasn’t a stripper. She was one of Richie’s other friends up there. We made a lot of friend, gave them nicknames. Richie, he calls me Captain Kidd. The King Of Swing is Richie’s nickname. His comes from two Californian women whose names have to be protected, but one of them is an LA rock star and she saw Richie one night, late. She called him the King Of Swing but I guess I should evade the rest, because he had a*lot*of fun with them."

Wiki (Lita Ford):
Quote:
Ford was born to a British father and an Italian mother in London, England. When she was about in second grade, she moved with her family to the United States, eventually settling in the Los Angeles area... In 1975, at age 16, Ford was recruited by recording impresario Kim Fowley to join the all-female rock band he was assembling called The Runaways. The band soon secured a recording contract and released their first album in 1976. ...

Wiki (Rainbow Bar and Grill):
Quote:
...Producer Kim Fowley used to hangout at the Rainbow, especially in 1975, when he formed the all-girl group The Runaways...

Since Bon Jovi played several dates around LA on both the Runaway and 7800 tours, it's possible that they hooked up there and in NYC.

If the lyric is meant to be literal it of course sounds like Roxie is a woman, but The Roxy was a famous nightclub on the Sunset Strip back in the 80s. Just throwing that out there.

Thanks for thine one JackieBlue! This settles it for me. I mean...this makes it like 99% sure. While Vixen and Roxy Petrucci were around LA in 1985ish, they certainly were no rockstars until 87/88. Also - Jon is refferring to two girls, but only one of them is a rockstar ... fits perfectly with this incident described now.

I met Richie last week and asked him if he remembered Let It Rock of Slippery When Wet. He responded something along the lines "You kiddin' me, I f***kin' wrote that song". I asked him then if it was about Lita Ford and he was like "Jesus....you know, I think you're right. Almost forgot about that. Don't tell Toni Iommi, or Ori!" and laughed it off.

I couldn't tell whether he was serious or just talking non-sense or even hitting on me. You can't tell these days, he's definitely on some kind of substance... but it almost feels like anti-depressants. Anyway, there are some remnants of the charming guitar-slinger cowboy he used to be...but not many. Time.

Finally, this website is absolutely horrific. How do you people post with so much spam everywhere? Not enjoyable.

Thanks for the inside info. I was already pretty convinced it was about her. And sad to hear Richie's abusing on something but looking at him and not only in the recent vids you can tell anyway.
