Is Obie really William O'Brian?

Obie messed with a 15 year old girl when the band was touring in 2000. He was their sound engineer for the Crush tour and apparantly couldn't resist the looks of a 15 year old girl. The mother of the girl went to court after she found out about it and Obie was given home detention (I don't know for how long) and had to fulfill 300 hours of community service.

Jon said he needed him for Shepherds Bush 2002 and QVC in 2003 but the judge refused to let him go. They never, ever talked about the incident and I think it's on the black list for interviewers.

Yup, not only is Obie a terrible sound engineer but he's also a kiddy chaser. Just one more thing to add to the list of things that is wrong with Bon Jovi these days

Quite frankly it's his lousy sound editing that offends me the most.

The way I remember the 15 year old and her story was that it was consensual - I don't think he's a rapist. He just has very bad judgment.

There's nothing consensual about having sex with a 15 yr old It's against the law
Sex with a 15 yr old is considered statutory rape even if the 15 yr old consents

I think Jon knows Obie more then any of us, I'm sure he knows the full truth. Why else would he still employ him?

I'm aware it was consenual and I wouldn't consider him a rapist in the violent meaning of it that we usually associate with that word. I just wonder if there was any bribery involved like meeting the band that caused her to consent because I doubt there are many young girls jumping up and down about the mere thought of doing Obie. Or maybe she thought if she did Obie she would meet the band... either way bad judgment by Obie with probably a very impressionable teen.

<sigh> I KNOW this. I was just pointing out that it wasn't a case of rape. I did mention that it was very poor judgment on Obie's part.
