The girl with that Obie had something was no child anymore but a teenager. She was just under age which was the problem. But it wasn't a child anymore. Don't make Obie a monster or something.

Erm. A rapist is not exactly an honorable thing. Not sure if monster would be the correct term, but to trivialize rape is quite dangerous and un-empathetic.

Sorry, I misread . Statutory Rape means that the person he was having sex with was under the legal age of consent period. She could have been 17 years 11 months and 29 days old, it still would have been statutory. The big difference here is that it doesn't mean he forced her or that he attacked her, just that she wasn't eighteen when he went to bed with her. Was it stupid??? Absolutley. Is it weird??? IMO yes but there are a whole lot of men in the world who believe younger women are the way to go, and a whole lot of young women who feel that snagging an older man is the way to go.

The incident in discussion is that Obie got caught having sex with someone under 18. It wasn't a child it was a teen 16 or 17 I can't remember exactly. Anyway he got charged and convicted of "statutory rape" which just means he slept with someone under the legal age of eighteen, not that he attacked or forced anyone.

No Rainsong. That is NOT the definition of statutory rape. While each state has a different definition, it usually means the rapist was significantly older than the minor in question. It's not an 18 year old sleeping with his 17 years and 11 months old girlfriend.
