I am a complainer. I could rant for pages about bad songs, dull setlists, the accoustic album that never materialized, those high notes on ALWAYS, Casino concerts, the "love it or leave it" attitude at Backstage, gold suits,.... WHY ? Because BON JOVI is my favorite band. I am a longtime fan and I am disappointed by recent efforts. Ranting does not make me less of a fan. I still LOVE the songs and albums that originally made them my favorite band.

I dont think the majority of the fan base visit fan messageboards and worship JONs every wiggle or rant about the band's lack of passion. If the average fan doesnt like an album, they just dont purchase it. And, they may not purchase in the future. Sales for BOUNCE and TLFR were dismal. Possibly the the non-complaining fans have spoken too.

wow great post Cath ... I think you are right ....

abiut the albums sales it's just so true ...
now for me I am a complainer who is more focused on the subliminal message from the band more than on the musical technical professional side of their carreer...

which mean I can complain about everything you mentionned but not as much about the music itself (if it was just musical problems like voice or' setlist it wouldn't be such a problem for me ..i think it's a problme because it's added to many other problems )

I can complain way more about the attitude ... casinos shows ... corporated shows... obvious business and $$ interest...the way Jon's imposed his football passion to the fans .... gold suits (lol) ... lack of interest for the music proudly showed on the media like a slap on the fans face ...
Cath I like the part where you say you are complaining because you are a fan .. this is so true .... and so many fans are just not getting this right .. like to complain is the worse thing to do to the band ... it's the opposite in my book

the love it or leave it is very true too .... but it's not coming from the band directly but it's highly irritating !

I think most of the complaining going on is really more of a "critque" - Especially on this board ...

We may be the PIZZA PALOUR JURY of the 2000's

I am mostly happy but just a little bit complaining. I am a bit unique in that I was always a fan but not a real fanatic in terms of attending shows, posting on boards, joining fanclubs etc. until Bon Jovi. As I sit here today I still think Crush is a good album- poppy yes but it is good upbeat pop rock stuff. My complaints if you will are the following: Bounce left all the good songs on B sides and did not live up to its promise despite some fine songs on the album (I contend there is no bad Bon Jovi album really, just some ones lately with some flaws), Jon seemed tired a bit on the Bounce tour and became disillusioned with the music business towards the end which made for some rote performances among the brilliant ones (Hyde Park, Giants x 2) with set lists that need to be more diverse. I live in Philly and initially loved the whole football thing and have no issue with it but more than anything I want new music and a new tour. I want the passion that brought out the brilliant Last Man Standing to come out. I want the boys that wrote so prolifically that they could fill a box set with unheard material as good as their released material to resurface this album with great songwriting and more rock and roll this time. Having said that faith in an artist or band among us die hards whose lives have been forever touched by their music lives on at least in me and I have faith that this new album will rock our socks! If I didn't believe that and if this wasn't fun for me I would go obsess about something else

Bon Jovi keeps disappointing me, album after album. Crush was not a great comeback. One Wild Night was not a great live album. Bounce was not the heavy guitar influenced album they promised us and TLFR does not contain the amazingly reworked songs. Further on;

Why didn't they release a good concert from the Crush tour instead of the Zurich one where the weather sucked, and the band wasn't in top form? Why didn't they release the full concert?
Where's the DVD from Giants 2001?
Why did they just re-release the Wembley VHS show instead of releasing a good DVD of the full show?
Shouldn't there be a decent DVD from the Bounce tour?
Why are all the These Days songs abandoned from the set?
Why can't the setlists be altered that much anymore?
Why are there no more real world tours?

All these questions can not be answered by those "real" fans because it's true. Bon Jovi ows us nothing as long as they don't promise anything. So stop making promises you can't make true. Stop telling how good Bon Jovi is live, because you're most of the time aren't. Many bands from the same era Bon Jovi comes from have become better over the years, and you're starting to get worse each tour. Stop telling how different each show is because the setlist is so different, because it isn't. Stop saying that Bon Jovi is a rock band, because according to the last albums, they're not.

But when saying this, you're not a real fan. Because you're supposed to love all those things, or just forget them and focus on the positive things. Ask people about their opinion about it and they feel attacked because you "obviously" don't accept their opinion. People can not handle criticism, can't handle it when you ask them why they form such an opinion.

That's why I'm a complainer, and that's why I chose for the 5th option. I've got good reasons for it.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
Supersonic that is the best post i have read! that is everything i would've wanted to say! More power to you!

I canīt relate to any options of the poll. My principal complain is the setlists, they should be changed more often. I`ve heard Jon and Richie sayng they are spontaneous and can give always somthing new to the public every nitgh, but I didnīt experienced that when I saw them in 4 shows at Bounce Tour. Iīm just refering to the setlist...donīt get me wrong....
