Is the public, press, etc. being especially hard on Jon?

I mean after this Tour started with Jon's voice being so weak I started listening to other "older"/"old" band out there on Tour and found plenty of them that I didn't think still should be touring. However, these bands/singers weren't being attacked like Jon.

I don't think a lot of bands are charging as much as the band is given they haven't had a hit since 2007 (or a major hit since 2005) and are really ignoring the back catalouge to play a lot of songs people have never heard of. If they were either charging a little less or having a full set of wall to wall recognizable songs I think press would be easier on him.

That being said, this is new territory for his voice to be trashed like this. Don't get me wrong, the press is usually not that kind to him but it's more based on the image and not liking his voice, not it being out of tune, breathy and cant keep up with the music.
