Do you not know that Bon Jovi is, and has always been, a pop-metal band? That is what they are. If your point is that Crush is a pop record....your right. That is because they are a pop band. Read the lyrics....they are pop songs. It is not an insult....the Beatles were a pop band too. If that is you entire argument too prove that Crush was produced to appeal to a pop audience then you are correct......but it still is not written in a way to appeal to the Britney audience. Just Older, I Got The Girl......the refferences only appeal to an adult who understands the message. Captain Crash....that generation could not even know the refferences in the song. If that was the desire they missed the mark with the lyrics alone. Your comment was to say that they were trying to appeal to the young pop audience......no way. They were trying to get back to what they do best....which was a departure from These Days which did not work with the mainstream concert going audience.

Okay, assuming everything you wrote is true, why would they hire boybands' wizards Max Martin and Luke Ebbin to do the record? Why not known rock/pop rock creators?

Anyway, I don't judge the band. I absolutely understand their need to bring some fresh young blood in. I personally thought they should have stuck with more serious side of rock (like in KTF and TD). You know Save the World and 2 Story Town just don't measure up. But that side of rock wouldn't bring in teens. I think eventually they will return to KTF kinda sound though.

Why would they hire a 26-year old pop producer? The only reason is to help them update their sound in a way it would be suited for pop fans' ears. So they could bring some young blood into their fan base. And that's what they did with IML.
So f'kn what. Crush is still a great album. I don't get bagging it.

I wish you would stop mentioning Max Martin.....we have already established that you mis-spoke, he was not involved with Crush. Luke Ebbin WAS involved, and yes, he had done some bubble-gum pop stuff before the BonJovi projects. Did you know that George Martin produced big-band early in his career.....hmmm. You still have come up with zero evidence Crush was an effort to appeal to the Britney generation. I will give you that Crush had a few bad songs on it. I also think that it is safe to say that there are VERY few people that like every song on every album.

Why bother trying to classify everything?..."Oh this is pop..this is rock" etc etc.

As long as you like a certain album does it matter what anyone would classify it?

...and Pop means Popular, and Bon Jovi are Popular so then yes, they are a Pop band....but every band who are a commercial success are technically Pop.

I disagree. It even says in a review of the album, that the most interested ppl in the album would be the ppl that know the name of all of Jon's pets (i.e. Hardcore fans).

Also if the album was meant to be appealing to new fans, Bon Jovi would have done far more marketing work on the album.

thats what their problem. they write lyrics appealing to fans of different ages. but they use computer tools to attract teens caus they weren't succesfull in the us and outside the us poeple don't care that much about the lyrics if they aren't fans.

tlfr is for nothing and noone just for themselfes. or maybe for trying out how to make nice backstreet boys music to excercise for the new album (hoepfully not )

Now there are people in consecutive posts that post contradictory opinions of who this album was for. Was it for them? Was it for the harcore fan? Who cares, it sucks. I have done a lot of things for me in my life.....I never put them on tape and tried to sell them to people. If it was for noone but themselves, don't release it! They know that there is a base of 3-4hundred thousand people that will buy it no matter what. So they sell these albums, they charge twice the normal ticket price for 2 shows, and they release a DVD that we will all buy even knowing what crap it's going to be. All of this just for themselves right? Maybe....if you mean that they did it to get themselves a little more cash this year. They did it for the hardcore fan......how can you even try that one? Harcore fans love the original songs, thats why we like the band :) If you take the meaning of the songs and re-work them to change the meaning can we really beleive the sincerity of the original? If you change your style completely is the hardcore fan going to feel that they are getting a Bon Jovi album? As I have said in prior posts, the evidence is there if you read the other posts from the hardcore fans.....the majority of fans hate this album. Unless this was done to mark a change in style to appeal more to the aging house fraus that still get in there Slippery t-shirts and go to the arena's.....fine. Just don'e expect me, or a lot of formerlly hardcore fans, to but the next album until we hear if it is a BonJovi album....or a Tom Bon Jones repeat.
