Default It always goes back to the mullet...

Quote from today's Star Ledger (New Jersey Paper)

"While Bon Jovi's brand of anthemic rock for the masses is about as fashionable as a feathered mullet at the moment, the band is still an arena draw, a hot seller on the charts adn an inescapable media presence."

It also mentions how the box set won't be released until they hit the 100 million mark in record sales. They are seven million away from that total.

In the end, Jon's primary musical influence has been his home state. Seeing Bruce and Southside at Jersey shore clubs was what set him on the rock path.

One more quote:

"I wanted to be the guy that made records because of Jersey. I never aspired to be in Led Zep or Kiss, I didn't look up to those things. The dream was alive because it was in your backyard. You saw those guys. They were real. It wasn't just a poster out of Circus magazine. There was a sense of community when Southside Johnny or one of the E street guys would walk into a club and you'd go, "Wow, they make records."

Gotta Love Them!

I was pretty surprised too. It says the box set is "commemorating 100 million record sales."

Maybe the poor sales of Bounce has something to do with it? I really don't know.

They are not 7 million away...they are 3 million away.Island said they are between 97 and 98 million. They were 7 million away before they realeased Bounce.
And I don't think we'll have to wait very much since I read ion some british site that SLIPPERY stil sells about 8000 copies a week ...

It won't be that long. They have continual record sales no matter how well Bounce is doing or not doing. Touring will increase record sales also.

And if all else fails, Jon's mom will buy the 3 million records they need to hit 100 million.

So Bounce has sold close to 4 million? Even taking into account the continues sales of the other albums, that's pretty good.

How many do they need to sell for an album to go platinum?
