I actually don't consider myself a die hard fan - but even if I was I don't think it has anything to do with which record you prefer. What about the people who back then just bought 7800 and nothing else, would you consider them die hard fans?

Plus, I think it's stupid putting people into categories according to which album they prefer. I could come up with thousands of reasons why I think TD is their best album, you could do the same with 7800 (impossible as it sounds to me :P ) and some other about NJ, and so on. It's not being about die hard fans or casual fans now, is it?

How do you define a "die hard" fan? Is it someone who's been a fan over half their life like me? Someone who's been to dozens of shows all over Europe and the USA like Sambo-Chris? I mean, how do you make distinctions in the level of fan-hood? Am I less of a fan because I live in Mississippi where they haven't played in 1989 and have only been to 10 or so shows? Or am I more of a fan because I live in Mississippi where they never play and I've still mananged to go to about 10 shows in six different states? Do you have to be in the fan club to be a die hard fan? (LOL) Do you have to own every album and every CD? Do you have to like every song? Do you have to like the solo work? Do you have to go to all the movies, watch all the TV appearances, and take up liking American football? On that note, do we have to watch all of Heather's TV appearances too? LOL I mean, really... what's the definition?

This 'dialogue' pretty much shows the root of the matter and StoneDeaf put it best: DO NOT GENERALIZE!

yeah most people i know that used to like bon jovi and are hard rock or metal fans (some of them wearing black clothes and all lol :P ) think that after these days (or keep the faith maybe) bon jovi went pop and started their downfall.
but you're all right about how we must not generalise. there is always the exception.

well, I agree with the "after" part These Days was still great (and probably my fave in modern life - opposed to the 80s) lol.

and, yes generalizations don't work
