I think Miracle is a fantastic song as is a lot of the album.

Very good song although I prefer Santa Fe which I think is one of the best things Jon's ever written.

I was listening to it last night and again they absolutely blew my head off. It's struck aswell how poetic the lyrics are and how Jon only seems to explore that side of his songwriting on solo records, with the few odd exceptions.

My favourite lyrics are:

"I've driven deep the thorny crown into the soul of someones son
Still I'll look you in the eyes cause I believe in things I've thought
And I'll die without regret for the wars that I have fought."

Sensational song.

Couldn't agree more Phil...great album with lyrics in all the songs that are intelligent. Jon needs to start writing again truly for himself, NOT the industry - he can say what he wants, but I hear songs written to appease an industry rather than songs that appease the songwriter....and he needs to embrace what was [ie: the older albums...pre Slippery] - they form what IS Bon Jovi...without what was, there wouldn't be what is.

Blaze of Glory was the album that convinced me of Jon's ability. He had already shown it live by taking the studio versions of their songs and putting them on another level..but the albums themselves were still....well just blueprints for the live performances to me. Blaze of Glory blew me away and set the bar for what I expected of him...he continued to output this kind of artistic creativity within the band and solo all the way up to 1998.... what the hell happened???
The album needs to be remastered.

"I'm just one man, that's all I'll ever be
I never can be everything you wanted from me
I've got plans so big
That any blind man could see
I'm standing in the river
Now I'm drowning in the sea"

God knows I've been there.

Yeah it's always been one of my favourate songs. It's a solid album, hardly a weak track on it, although I'm not a huge fan of Billy Get Your Guns and You Really Got Me Now, but the title track, Miracle, Santa Fe, Dyin' Ain't Much of a Livin', and Blood Money are really strong tracks. In fact Blood Money is a great ballad. It seems to tell the story of the rift between Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and how Pat was hired to kill him, if I remember correctly. Great song!

"Blood money, that's what I call it
'Cause money for blood ain't no fair exchange.
Blood money, bought and then sold you
But your conscience is all you can take to your grave."

Bleeding Purist, That is without a doubt my favorite part of the song and maybe some of the best lyrics Jon has ever written. IMO

Killer Song - I would love to hear it live someday!

No offense there but I've read you saying "it's Jon's best lyrics ever", or something close, for four or five songs already: Novocain and Last Man Standing (in the same post, that was funny), then One last cigarette (that's 3 songs on the same album) and now Miracle.

I know you love this band and it's members, you can, but don't you think you're losing credibility as one of their defenders when you're like changing your mind so often as it always seems the last song you heard from them is their greatest ever...?

On topic, these lyrics are nice and certainly some of Jon's finest. BOG is a very good album. My favourite of Jon's solo albums.

No, that's not what I said at all. Yes, I said Last Man Standing were the best lyrics Jon has written, and I believed it then, I listen to this song a couple days ago and changed my mind. Is that ok with you? Can I change my mind or is that not allowed around here?

Secondly I said "my favourite" lyric on HAND was that one bit in Novocaine about a new meaning to Livin On a Prayer, I most certainly did not say they were the best lyrics Jon ever wrote. Big difference between best and favourite. As for One Last Cigarette, I was very clearly taking the piss. Stop being a pissy little bitch.

Why do you feel the need to insult every single person that doesn't bow their head to you and say, "oh, Krycek, you're Bon Jovi's greatest fan and I live for your every word"? You seriously need to relax and stop acting so defensively. That would show that you don't take things so personally
