Not saying he's right or wrong, but I can see where this guy got the idea that IML is a bigger song. Bon Jovi.com has reported that before. They seemed to base it on radio airplay longevity and worldwide single sales moreso than chart position. Prayer was the band's longest running #1 song, but Blaze was a bigger selling single, so for a while, the record company called Blaze the biggest hit (and it's not even by the band). Then Always came along, was their only platinum single in the USA, stayed in the USA AC Top 10 for 6 months, but never hit #1, but it was still declared the biggest hit of their career. Then IML came along and they declared it the biggest hit. I've never heard HAND on the radio, but who knows. They may proclaim it the biggest hit of their career because the tour is selling so well. I guess it just depends on what stats you consult in which country. In other words, it's kind of pointless to argue about this, don't you think? LOL

I think the best way to judge is by what non-Jovi fans know. EVERYBODY has heard Prayer and knows it's Bon Jovi. I don't think there's any other song of their's you could say that for.

I can't speak for everywhere obviously, but where I live (US - Northeast), when you hear a Bon Jovi song on the radio, if it's not a new song, 9 out of every 10 times, it's Prayer. Well, maybe not quite that many, but it's pretty high.

I put a thread on another message board (non-Jovi related) and asked what song people thought of when they thought of Bon Jovi.

I'll continue to update, but as for now, here's what I've gotten:

Prayer - 24
Wanted - 10
Bad Name - 6
Runaway - 2
Bad Medicine - 2
It's My Life - 2
Have A Nice Day - 1
Bed Of Roses - 1
In and out of Love - 1

It's interesting. I don't know, maybe here the best known BJ song is Always, and then IML, but maybe just because they are more recent than Prayer.

I live in Ohio, and never once have I heard Prayer on the radio. That's pretty weird considering I'm a whole one state away from the northeast. I've heard Runaway, Bad Name, Wanted, IBTFY, Always, BOR, Blaze, IML, TYFLM, and a few others on the radio, but never Prayer.
