HAND, very closely followed by It's My Life.

Its My Life was the orginator of the 'live my life' (from 2000 onwards anyway) songs and brought Jovi a generation of new fans. The intro was a perfect buildup to one kick ass rock song, back in the day I absolutely loved it and still do now actually. Hasn't got depth but it hits a nerve with its catchy chours and straightforward lyrics, its an everyman's song you could say.

Everyday I thought was a nice spin, very gritty sounding and the effects worked great in the song. The lyrics were different and interesting enough for me, the chorus was similar with the "gonna live my life everyday" message but all in all I thought it was a great little song, cool solo too.

HAND was without the effects and nicely stripped down but come on another song with the same theme as their previous two lead singles. Good melody, neat little solo and nice lines throughout the song but they totally played it safe with this one.

See, with all due respect, I don't think HAND shares the theme fully.
To me, IML and Everyday obviously share the theme of "Live my Life" and being yourself, and overcoming your own inner-demons, whereas HAND is much more of an antagonistic "**** the world" type of song.
I know that musically the song's are similar, but I've never really seen the thematic connection others do.

However, Have A Nice Day turned out to be one of the worst songs that I had ever heard in my life. The song was so awful that I wondered were they really even serious or was this some kind of practical joke. And indeed Have A Nice Day seems to be a good parody of It's My Life. It seems to me that with that song the band were really making fun of themselves, it's like a deliberate humour song that's mocking Bon Jovi. The lyrics were just embarrassing - they're like written by a 5 year old kid, and full of unprecedentedly horrific clichés, I honestly thought I had never seen worse supposedly serious lyrics anywhere - and the song was amazingly powerless, formulaic, boring and superficial, the whole idea of saying "have a nice day" in a sarcastic way, as if saying "f**k you!", was so tasteless and childish that I was simply stunned, and of course it was just as big or even bigger clone of IML than Everyday was. The song was truly pathetic.

Jesus...!

A tad over-dramatic per chance? If HAND is actually one of the worst songs youv 'ever heard in your life' yet you love IML so much and i'm sure other cheesy and cliched bon jovi songs, then i don't have much to say about that....

HAND. The other two I will go out of my way not to listen to them, HAND I will go out of my way to listen to it. I think IML has been overplayed to me & it doesn't have much depth. Maybe I'll feel the same way about HAND in a few years. However I think HAND is also by far the best live.

I've been wondering what I wanted to say to this topic. You solved my problem. 100% agree.
