Keep On Rockin'
And Crossroad would be called "The best of Slippery when wet"

stop using the old "real fan" argument to "dress up" BJ's recent shortcoming musically. these guys earn millions and millions, and people refuse to be critical about their recent dodgy material purely on the basis of "sticking with them through thick and thin", how sad
even if their recent efforts aren't that good, that doesn't mean it's time for their retirement

generally it does...

If a band has seemingly ran out of ideas (and that's just my opinion), then they should break up. Reguardless of how much money there is to be made, in my eyes if they can't cut it together creatively then they should part. For me Jon can't do it in the Bon Jovi formula any more, that's not to say he couldn't do a fantastic solo album, but I don't think anything good will come from Bon Jovi again. Retirement I think referes to the band, not to the individuals. Basically go there seperate ways is what I'd say.

and if you can't do anything in 8 years then it's really time to move on. Some bands hit a sticky patch, but Bon Jovi seemed to have drowned in theirs.

Yeah, but this is coming from the guy who reckoned having his hair cut short would affect his keyboard playing. So excuse me if I don't take you seriously from now on

Keep On Rockin'

No that's a practicle thing. You have hair as long as mine and play an instrument that you hang your head over, it's very very different.

I'm somebody who plays with everything, so even if I'm in my room arms are going up in the air, head flying back mouth open e.t.c. If I'm in the groove I'm there, doesn't matter if I'm in my room, a studio, infront of people or on my own, I'm the same. The whole look and feel of how I played could have been different when I got it cut. You can't 'rock' the same, and I was worried I woudln't be able to get the same feel....

It's a silly thing, but when music is absolutely everything to you then you dont do something you think could effect where you are with it... Like it's stupid having something like a bowl of brown m&ms', but if it makes you feel more comfortable and assured that you're going to get to that place where everything you play is sweet then you do it.

I found I could play just the same, it was being superstisious, but then musicians generally are.

Still like I said, when you've spent several years playing with hair hanging down it's considerably different playing without.

And reading this whole topic made me start to answer, then I got so worked up I had to go for a smoke, came back, continuted replying, but realised I need another smoke if I continue... So I just gave it up, and won't dignify this thread with any relevant answer. It's just not worth ruining my lungs or my nerves for!

It's true... Although for me it has a lot more to do with being out in the audience than when I'm playing. When I'm playing I get in exactly the same zone, it's just sometimes at a concert I wish it was still long.
