IMO Jon's songwriting is very uneven. Some of his songs are uninteresting but when he nails it - he REALLY nails it.

Santa Fe, Blaze, Bang a Drum are brilliant. Ugly, It's just me, Staring at your window, Janie, Learning how to fall, Aug 7 are excellent.

I used to think I didn't care for Jon's solo work. I changed my mind. He is a great great songwriter. His work is very well balanced. I'm looking forward to more solo work from him.
