Thatīs how I see it, too. No matter if you take an 80īs BJ song, 90īs or 2000īs song, most people would instantly reckon them as Bon Jovi anyway. There is no Bon Jovi Goes Grunge -album. And theyīve been writing the IML-sort of songs for a decade now. They are doing their own thing.
For some reason, this made me think of Motley Crue. They were the another big band I used to listen to in the 80īs. I loved Theathre of Pain, Girls Girls Girls and Dr. Feelgood. And suddenly, after having released their 2 best albums, they fired Vince and gave us the self-titled grunge-oriented album. The album may have its moments and some consider it decent indeed but that was not the good old Motley for sure. At least not for me. Iīm glad These Days didnīt follow the same path. The critics butchered These Days and said it sounded just like Bon Jovi had always sounded.
