Good to see a new song being performed. I like it I guess, but it's hard to say from a 30 second snippet. I'm still waiting for some rock riffs to come along, and I get another ballad, lol. I know it's not the band version, could easily be like the two LMS's (though I don't think so). Bring on the dark stuff, I'm ready for "Hey God part 2"!

Thanks a lot for posting!

Sounds interesting, although hopefully the album won't just be a Springsteen knock off. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I hope we do actually get some proper rock songs as well ... it doesn't need to be the whole album, but a few Hey God style songs would definitely please me!

Interesting, dunno if anyone's said that here but the lyrics remind me a lot of Hey God XD

Off to go listen to it...

Huh. You know what I just thought sucks? The fact that the first new song to actually be debuted from the new album wasn't even by the whole band -_-

It's okay. No IML-ness there, always a step forward XD

Those lyrics are absolutely terrible. It's so lame to sing this hopes and dreams stuff. The song Have a Nice Day had one of their worst lines ever, "we're living in a broken home of hopes and dreams", and this is the same stuff. Simplistic, cheesy, Bruce Springsteen on crack type of thing. In addition, it's kind of ironic and hypocritical that these "I'm on the side of the common man" lyrics are written and sung by an extremely greedy millionaire. Singing Hey God 15 years ago had at least some credibility, but after seeing how shamelessly Jon milks money from his biggest fans through the fan club, this is just ridiculous.

Exactly what was the credibility 15 years ago? I'm not knocking you, I'm just curious. They were at the top of their game everywhere but North America. The difference is now Jon is actively making a big deal of helping people.

Why bother? STFU and maybe post something thoughtful for once. I see nothing wrong with the lyrics, and why can't he sing about the common man? Surely Springsteen does as well, and he isn't exacly the poorest man out there. And it's lame to sing about hopes a dreams?!?!?!? LMAO!

What do you want? Another love song? A song about beer and 'bling' and money? A song about drugs and alcohaul?

As far as I know Springsteen isn't ripping off his fans while at the same time he is talking/writing about how the crisis is hurting everyone. Springsteen writes about the common man because it hits him. Jon writes about the common man because he thinks that's what sells best at this time. It's not a co-incidence that all of a sudden now that there's a crisis Jon comes up with stuff that would go down very well on the silly American audiences.

Those lyrics are god awful, they're just the key words from the crisis packed together in a verse that rhymes. There's nothing in there that sounds like it's coming from the heart but it yet again is just another attempt of Jon Bon trying to take advantage of what's going on at the moment, instead of trying to write something that actually makes sense.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Of course Jon was a millionaire back then, but as far as I know he hadn't gone to the lengths to make money as he now has. I read this article about how badly Jon's fan club has treated the fans during the past few years... People pay huge amounts of money to the fan club and get nothing in return ($300 for a concert etc.), and then Jon sings about empty pockets and how life is hard - funny or what? And Jon's charity work is probably just a PR stunt... I'm sure he'd have enough money to rebuild the whole New Orleans, but he'd rather buy ten new houses for himself.

(By the way, it's also stupid that Aerosmith did the song Eat The Rich.)

I don't want them to do anything. I'm not a fan of the new stuff and I'm not going to listen to whatever they're going to release next.

So why bother? All everyone has been doing lately is bitching. So what if he is writing songs that will make money? Maybe (just maybe) he actually has cared, as he is and was avidly involved in charity. Is helping the common guy who couldn't afford housing saying something and doing nothing? Maybe a little optimism would liven this board up. If you don't like it, fine, but there really is no need for all this bitterness. What's done is done, and there really is nothing you can do about it. Sure you'll reply with how stupid I sound, or how wrong I am, but almost everyone here is so damn bitter about the new record.
