Default Jon And Elton

We all know that Elton is one of Jon's biggest influences... Someone on the Youtube thread posted a discovery from 2001 of Elton and Jon doing Levon and Bitch is back live for an Aids Benefit. Jon has always done justice with Elton! In this 2001 clip, Elton says “Now there is a member of the band I’d love to have”

Just to reflect back on my favorite Jon/Bon Jovi periods, here are 2 seconds worth of footage of Elton and Jon In the studio recording Dyin' Ain't Much Of A Livin. Man, what a cool period! Jon was at his coolest and the music speaks for itself.

4:40

Here is the Official Video of Dyin which is slightly different than the album version. It's raw and you can hear Elton more. I like this version better! (If there is one thing I'd love to get my paws on, it would be the demos and raw outtakes from this album).

To continue: Levon is just another great vocal from Jon from that same period!

Here is another kick-ass performance from 2006 of Bon Jovi doing Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. This is what I consider Jon's last year of Youth before turning into grown-up corporate businessman Jon.

Another one from 2006

Bon Jovi also rocked other benefits with Elton such as this one “Fashion Rocks”:
BTY, Can Denise Richards be any hotter back then? And I think Richie is serious when he said he wasn't cool in 1987. Kidding but serious.

All in All, I think there is some great mutual respect between the two and an ever greater unpublicized friendship.

Thanks Man! Nice Avatar btw.

The Blaze era was my absolute favorite time! Slipper and Jersey were still killin it and then this Jon Solo comes out unexpectedly, with Levon to follow shortly after. This was when Jon could turn water into wine!

Jon was a different guy back then. Confident by somewhat shy. This is the apparent gray period when Jon was somewhat suicidal. If so, it never showed.

That's what happens when you cut your hair.

Hey man, great thread and great finding on Youtube! I bought a rare mix Bon Jovi CD from this crappy little market in Worcester, England back in 1996. On it track 1 is Levon! Love this song. Got some other great rare ones on too.

I never realized how great Jon sang that until a few years ago. When it was initially getting minor airplay in '91, that was just Jon's voice like everything else he sang. I took it for granted . I was comparing it to every song on Blaze and just thought it was ok. Looking back on it now, he nailed it. Perfection!

I know this opinion will differ but I think this was when Jon was at his vocal peak.
