No. 1 - not everyone
No. 2 - it doesn't seem to me like you are actually ignoring him

You know that's not really ignoring him, right? Ignoring means not pay any attention whatsoever, not just not talking to him directly

Plus, he's been around for ages and I don't think he's going to go away just because you and a few others ignore him (so to speak...).

If you really want to ignore him start by not opening his posts

Because Jon makes it look like his opion is based upon his wisdom. I was being sarcastic and you know it. Bringing up an iPod argument but not knowing exactly why it was released is stupid. Plus, he backs it up with arguments like "the record company have found another way to sell the music again" while we didn't hear him about something like that in '94 when Cross Road was released. Bon Jovi had released 3 albums with hits and released a greatest hits. :s

Which is why I mentioned it in the first place. He didn't mention why it was released because appearantly he doesn't know it in the first place.

Complaining about not having any artwork with a song on a iPod is therefore silly as well.

Because he very well knows his song are used there. But because he is into this "I've got a boxset that doesn't contain rehashed material" state of mind, he complains about the record company's and their way of re-releasing stuff. But we'll never hear him complain about his songs being on there, because then it's the money he is making, instead of the money from the record company's.

Yes you did. In an indirect way you did by posting those smilies, making clear that you are happy with someone that thinks I'm a sad troll or whatever. So ignoring me isn't really one of your strongest skills

What's your opinion based on?

Just because he didn't mention it makes you say he doesn't know? So if you bring up a subject and you leave something out because it's not essential for what you are trying to say, I may assume you know sh1t about it?

I think Crossroad is not a very good example: well, they put out a Best Of, so what? There are artists that put out their 10th Best Of...
Anyway, I admit that a lot of stuff contradicts itself in recent years. Singing about "keep your digital downloads" in LMS and doing the same is quite odd. On the other hand, being part of the business doesn't mean to like everything about it. However, there's no reason for me to dissect every word he speaks publicly. It's a fan club letter, not a diploma.

I thought he means that the work of cover artists and photographers is not seen with downloads.

Yes, of course.

I get Jon's point about the Ipod thing. As an older person, I've already been through what 3 or 4 "format" changes. Hell, Ive rebought or redone my music collection two or three times already. From vinyl to cassettes to cds and now they want me to spend $300.00 for an Ipod, pay .99 cents a song to download music I've already paid for at least twice over. No thanks, my cd player has a skip button and I've alredy got a walkman for when I'm out without my car which has a cd player as well as the two or three cd systems that are hanging around my house. I have an enormous collection already the last thing i need is to spend more time transferring music again. I'd rather the labels spend more money developing artists so i had more to listen to than trying to sell me another way to get what I already got.
And quite honestly the best songs on albums are not always the songs released as singles. (those are just the most air-play friendly) The gems are often in the album tracks. If the labels keep pushing for single downloadable tracks then whre are those gems that the artists feel are not good singles material but are good album tracks going to go?
I don't think Jon is forgetting anything, he's simply expressing his view on the potential downside of the Ipod. He's an album guy, by his own admission and it bothers him, (rightly so IMO) that as an artform it could get left by the wayside.

Why would you have to pay again? You can just transfer your CDs to MP3s, you know. As for people not buying albums, it's been that way all along. The only time people bought albums was in the 70s in the progressive rock era. Rock'n'roll has always been a singles business.
