I can't believe they did this for a corporate gig -
I sure like to hear that some time.

(And for the record, Kenny Aronoff is an incredible drummer, rocknation.)

I really like these performances, where the band seems to be relaxed and not going so much through the motions and the cliches, like a rehearsal in a way...
I believe it would be a nice idea if they released during the hiatus,(in order to celebrate their h.o.f. induction!!!) a live dvd boxset, where we the ideal package would have:
1. hammersmth odeon, we know they have it in their vault, excellent performance, setlist, show, with the right mixing-editing it could be killer...
2.central park, great vibe, place, it could easily work and has been produced-mixed already.
3.i'd like a dvd with selected performances from giants(01-03-05-10) and maybe some from hyde park where the atmosphere was also really great, or maybe another show even if it wasnt specifically recorded for release but the outcome of the performance was satisfying by their high standards...(no cheap shots for crush dvd-tlfr borgata-lost highway the movie etc...)
4.i d also liked to see a dvd-backstage documentary where we could see some extended footage from rehearsals through the years, all the great artists deliver even in the rehearsals, they may be holding back vocally etc but the magic is still there, raw and real.
I d like to read your opinions about this, most of us agree that the majority of their live releases dont do them justice, and from the previews i ve seen i have to say that i m afraid that the new circle movie will fell into that category, they have to invest money and also hire a director specialised in concert films, matt who shooted msg if i m not mistaken dissapointed me, i found the msg dvd a nice effort but still...i couldnt believe when during dry county or wanted they show us babies or mothers, or even worse during the solo in always girls "headbanging" i thought what the f..k???i can get that the goal is a wide demographic and a friendly-all age image but these scenes take some of the rock n roll magic away in my opinion.

in conclusion i dont believe they will release the show from giants in dvd, i hope we ll get a decent bootleg, and i keep my faith that we ll have a proper dvd release from the upcoming legs of the tour, hopefully from a packed stadium with fans who will respond to their music closely to the ones in south america...the band seems to focus in their touring power, and if they manage to have a number one tour again this year, maybe next year as well, 2 years in a row would be a great accomplishment, especially from a band who has been in the road many many times the last decade. and a good reason for the boxset release.
sorry for the long post, have a nice day.

Couldn't agree more. He won best session drummer for about 67 years running, if I remember rightly.

As for them playing a corporate gig which, as always, has drawn consternation from a vocal few; why shouldn't they play them?

I've got no problem with them playing corporate gigs. I wasn't bitching about that. I'd just love to hear that song intro Bed of Roses some time like it used to!

"Handsome" Kenny Aronoff played drums on both the Blaze of Glory and Destination Anywhere albums. He came in for the February 2009 fan club show in Sayreville, and he was awesome. I had a great time watching him play.

Now, now--I didn't say that Kenny wasn't good, I simply said that he WASN'T Tico!

Thierry..I do believe the drummer is Graham Lear who has played drums for Santana, and REO Speedwagon to name a few.

It seem to be conflicting reports about this drummer. I will check my Sayreville DVD to check it out.
