If you list to a song named "Waiting for the Sun" by Powderfinger (the song was released in 2000), the beginning is also extremely similar to both of these songs.

Just checked Powderfinger out, including their final ever performance...I think I will have to dig a bit deeper into their catalogue

No doubt you'll like 'em. Brilliant, brilliant band. I discovered them when I spent a year in Australia in High School almost ten years ago. Their album "Vulture Street" is one of my top 3 favourite records of all time. Their live performances are amazing too. Allthough, Bernard's voice was an absolute mess during their final three shows you mentioned before. Unlike many other bands (yes, including BJ), they managed to call it a day while they were still very much on top of their game live.

I know we love bon jovi, but they were never original and relevant to music (as art). What makes them so special, at least to me, is the particularity of Jon's voice, Richie's guitar feeling and great songs.

Seb, I cannot wait for your next thread on how the September 11th attacks were an inside job.
That's not a very good example. It's My Life just screams Larger Than Life (The Backstreet Boys) a la Bon Jovi.

edit: Bwahaha, I just remembered that both of those songs were written by Max Martin.
