I'd have to go with Jon Bon Jovi or Steven Tyler, and though the last one voice is less deteriorated, Jon Bon Jovi is way a better songwriter than Tyler. Also, Aerosmith didn't released a record for 11 years and when they did it sucked! And I'm an Aerosmith fan.

Axl is a dick, but that's not what I have to judge. The thing is, the guy couldn't stay relevant, and his voice, nowadays, sucks. In concerts the volume is so low that you can't hear it, but then you see the videos and it makes you wanna puke. Also, though Axl gave us some great songs, it's far to say that Jon wrote even more better songs.

Jon is the best of this 3. Then Tyler, then Axl.

He was compelling and the fact he is still such a name after not doing anything of note for 20 years is an indication of what an interesting rock star he was and is. If Jon Bon Jovi had disappeared for 15 years, he wouldn't have gotten the attention that Axl did IMO and I say that as someone who personally prefers JBJ.

Suppose it's all about opinions though.

Agree on Chinese Democracy except for the over-production. Some of the songs were completely ruined by it.

Axl sucked live.

Saw him three years ago and he was really good. That was years after what is widely perceived to be his peak.

I don't doubt that at times in the 80s and 90s he sucked live but so did Jon. You can't live the sort of life Axl did and be on top of your game all the time.

The performance is also more than the voice and some of the videos I've seen of him at his peak are impressive.

I'm not even an Axl fan or a big GnR fan (my ex was) but I have massive respect for what they did.

That said, you were at some of the shows in those days so your opinion obviously carries some weight.

they re all champions.

Axl however is an icon. he was a born rockstar.

jon's head is up his own arse these days.

tyler...meh....all their best stuff from the last 30 years is outside writers. amazing singer but.

all three are legends....but axl...he's got a "je ne sais quoi" that Jon and Tyler can only dream of.

Bon jovi are my favourite band of all time by the way

I can't reconcile the man in this video with danfan's or Rdkopper's comments:

Sadly, this man illustrates how far he has fallen:

And I thought Jon's voice had deteriorated.

At his peak, Jon Bon Jovi was the most charismatic front-man in rock n' roll, and simply owned every arena he walked into for 2+ hours, 250 nights a year.

Right now, Steven would be the best. Overall and at his peak, Jon was untouchable. Seek out any performance between 1986 and 2003 and you'll see why.

Stinker.

People say well Jovi and Aerosmith have got worse as the years have gone on album wise. But for me since 93 Aerosmith (with the exception of a few songs here and there) are unlistenable.
The new album just a mix of songs that didnt make other albums and with the exception of Street Jesus and What About Love theres a good reason why. They suck. Even What About Love is just about playable but theres no solo.
For me Aerosmith are done. I have no interest at all in them any more. I loved most of their stuff up to Get A Grip and then after that they bore me.
Seen them live twice - good live band that I will say.

Aerosmith since 2000 is in the same boat as Bon Jovi. I like their stuff, but it's nothing mind blowing.

Axl never had a good voice, and was never a great frontman. And I say that as a huge GNR fan.

Agree awesome record if a tad bloated but I love it.

Dont agree - Jovi havent been amazing since 2000 on record but Aersomith havent been good since before 93

Dont agree - I love that Axl has about 4 or 5 voices. Listen to the song So Fine on UYI2 - who would think its the same bloke as on something like Jungle? Then again his voice changed on Estranged.
