To be fair - New York City is the most expensive place on the planet. A small two bedroom apartment will sell for $600,000 - $800,000 - and I mean SMALL. Real estate and square footage is precious in a city that is built on a tiny island and then builds vertically. I have been looking at apartments since my last kid will be gone in a few years and I am blown away by the prices. I have a HUGE house in New Jersey very close to the city. To buy this much space in Manhattan would cost me about what Jon just paid for his place (without the back yard) - and I am NOT in his class money wise LOL.

Though, 26 million must be rather high even for NY?

Tokyo should be rather expansive to live in as well...

well, New York doesn't even make the Top 10 list of most expensive cities in the world anymore. Even Hamburg is more expensive. Well...it has a lot to do with the dollar being so much cheaper than the Euro but I guess you'll find more 26 Million dollar penthouses in New York than you will in Europe (excepting maybe London)
