I wouldn't worry to much about it, There may be a 'dreamer' thrown in there for good measure

You're right you're right. I'm over zealous and paranoid. Part of me can't believe he's still writing songs like that and part of me knows you're absolutely right. It's just a short clip of him recording something/anything.

Don't forget about "live" and "change".

Jon has said before he purposefully writes positive songs. He's also said they're harder to write than the depressing songs. And while I don't wish him any ill will or any reason to feel depressed, I do wish he didn't feel obligated to be a one note joy-spreading ambassador of good will all the time.

You are right. We might never hear this song again. It could be just a very rough early draft.

Just got me wondering has there ever been a song, when we heard it but it was never released? There was that song in Access All Areas and Jon is singing and I don't think, that ever was released on a CD.

I don't mind songs with a positive message. I just wish he'd take more time to dress them up like in the other decades. The rhymes don't have to be so one word simple, you don't HAVE to encourage people to get up off their knees and make blind eyes see so often. He tries so hard to be universal that he loses the people that would feel a one on one connection.

Bingo

It is Born to follow in different clothes... and that is not that direction I was hoping they'd go. That being said, just by the clip I'd most likely pick it over WWBTF... which isn't saying a lot.

After nearly 30 years and all the success they've had, they are not going to change who they are or what they do. They're not going to write another These Days. Jon said it himself in the interview, referencing "the underlying optimism" in the lyric(s). Whether you agree with it or not, he believes it is a key to their popularity and longevity. Hard to to argue with the results.
