You know what, Gabriel, MY opinion of Jon as an actor was not the question asked nor the answer given with those quotes. It was whether or not he got critical acclaim. If you bothered to read the sources of the quotes, you saw that most of them were from critics. Jon *has* been critically acclaimed as an actor whether or not the fans of his music believe it, accept it, like it, or share the opinion.

Personally, I think he's made some incredibly poor decisions about which films to take post U-571. In 2006, he mentioned doing a film with Queen Latifah. I wonder what happened to that.

I guess i remember that, jon mentioned it in a backstage letter or something like that.

Yes, i read it Becky, but you hear about stories of people paying money (or other kind of "gifts") for good reviews all the time (obviuslly it was a joke... LOL)

I think Jon did good in the movies. He's better than most musicians who turn to acting. I'd rather see him do a few movies right now than have him pump out more crap like Lost Highway!

BUt this quote also shows Jon's "desperation" to get attention for his work. True artists don't care about awards... but we all know that he is not that. It's funny, there is another thread in this forum right now talking about Jon not caring about being successfull cause they've achieved it all. HAHA... Whatever!

And why compare himself to Tom Cruise? Tom is a lunatic idiot. He will win some awards when he... learns how to act perhaps?

If the point was THAT they're campaigning you could also compare him to Hitler. The point is you can't.
You can hair split that all you want, but you can't deny that it's still in-your-face all the time (or at least it is for me; I live near Philly). Also, the fact that he, like Tom Cruise, has become something of a caricature of himself is absolutely true.

I don't split hairs here and I don't deny that this might be the case. I was asking what your point is when you said yourself that it ain't a bad thing to do.

If anything, this is just your opinion.

He is but he knows his job. Not that many actors got 3 Oscar nominations. Fact is, there's quite a big list of very good films where he's had huge impact on them becoming great.

The other thread you are mentioning.. you don't seem to understand what it says somehow. Yes, we all know Jon cares for success. Someone who doesn't is probably a true ARTist but also unworldly somehow.
However, what Jon said was that they don't NEED the success anymore. That is a difference, you know, as they clearly do not need it anmore, they've got it all. Jon might be pissed without successful outcome but it would hardly hurt anything else but his ego.

So, I really don't get such silly comments.

You don't get tired of finding silly excuses, do you?

That is not a scene that defines acting abilities at all. Anyone can make stupid faces on demand, that's not acting. You wouldn't recognize good acting even if it jumped on you.

Salaam Aleikum,

I liked M:I 3 and Last Samurai.

i don't think he meant it as a comment to be over-analysed in this way, down to the point of comparing how they push their opinions in people's faces...etc...

he was just saying the critics don't like his music but alot of regular people do.

strange no one picked up and ran with the elvis costello side of the comment...

Tom Cruise is a nutjob.

Jon Bon Jovi has an ego the size of his '84 hair.

Both are under-appreciated semi-masters of their craft.

Meh.

Let's not turn this into a Tom discussion, but I wanna add that I've honestly never liked ANY movie he was in, to the point that I started boycotting them. I liked Magnolia, but he wasn't the lead actor so it was watchable. Johnny Depp "only" got two Oscar nods, and even though they are recent (04 and 05), I think, Tom can only dream of being that good.

How is that not exactly what I said? Of course they don't need success as in the money part of it... But as far as music... Sorry Jon, not buying it! They've done nothing but tarnish their name and embarrass themselves in the last few years. They've done nothing original but only sounded like everyone else on the radio. They are supposed to lead, not copy, the newer bands.

He's trying to seem like he doesn't care about how well they do, and still whatever they do ends up being a success, supposedly contrary to what they expected or intended! Please, the hottest thing in music this decade (that is not pop or rap) is crossover country. So, why did they make LH? They made it to try and milk the country crowd cause they saw an opening with Who Says and went for it. If they truly wanted a country influence, they'd make and album that didn't sound like Carrie Underwood!

I'm willing to bet that Jon would call it a day on the band if they had two consecutive bomb-albums. And it's, as you say, precisely because of his ego.
