See, I also don't like a lot of movies, but it doesn't mean I deny that they are considered good. Or the other way around, i.e. that I do like some films where I have to accept they are generally seen as crap.

They are supposed to lead, not copy, the newer bands.
I still say, they don't need it. Of course, they try to stay successful and they do it a lot less passionate or creative. We all want them to do MUCH better again but they don't need to and I can't see that much wrong with it. It's ok with me. They made it. And they gave almost everything for it. They don't have to anymore.
It's not the time anymore where Bon Jovi lead newer bands and it shouldn't be in my opinion. We would have been stuck in the 80s.

I don't think so... My opinion is that they were far better in the 90's than in the 80's, which is what sustained them. Besides, lots of today's music draws from the 80's.

That is an interesting point. I agree that their 90s are what sustained them.
And I don't really disagree that they were better in the 90s. But even then I think they were not the "leaders" anymore. They became huge in the 80s, thus my comment.

And a lot of 80s music draws from the 70s, it doesnt make people buy 70s music - at least not to the degree of becoming number one with a 70s record today.

Yeah, they were somewhat laughed at in the 90's, only because they happen to be from the 80's. If Pearl Jam released These Days they'd be gods!

My favorite band of this decade, and I'm a little biased but I'll go as far to say they are THE best band of this decade - The White Stripes - sound just like a 70's band, like Led Zeppelin to be more exact. They sound soulful and kind of raw, so it's not just the songwriting that reminds me of 70's rock but it's also the recording quality. They are not over-produced. And I love Led Zeppelin, which is probably why I love the White Stripes. I like the Killers too and they sound just like an 80's new wave band. I mostly listen to metal and I noticed a lot of newer bands are drawing from the 80' metal scene. Lots of guitar solos, which I love...

In the cinnema I saw a trailer of a new Queen Latifah movie that's about to come out called 'Mad Money' or something.
Maybe he was planning on auditioning for it and didn't get around to it, or maybe he auditioned and lost?
