At their peak there was no much between them in my opinion. Now I'd say that Steven is the better singer. He doesn't seem to have lost his range the way Jon has, even if it means he has to burst blood vessels in his throat to reach those high notes.

I prefer Steven Tyler's voice to Jon's but I like Bon Jovi (the band) better than Aerosmith.

Range wise I'd rank them relatively close since, while Steven is much better on the high notes these days, Jon is much better with lower notes. He can pull off slow songs much better and his voice sounds better when attempting deeper songs.

Overall I prefer Jon simply since I've seen both live and Jon is the MUCH better showman in my book.

I like both their voices. I think Jon just about nicks it for showmanship (and at least Bon Jovi haven't forgotten Europe and we still get shows ), but Steven Tyler is by far the coolest.

I'm from Massachusetts and here it's a mortal sin to not be an Aerosmith fan! LOL I have seen Aerosmith live twice and Steven is an amazing frontman. I imagine it's like seeing a Bon Jovi show in Jersey. But, as far as "hitting the high notes" - Steven isn't singing them, he's screaming them. I think Jon has better vocal range and versatility. He's capable of singing any genre of music and singing it well.

For style i cannot tell exactly from the beginning of their careers because both of them had their rises and falls and their clothes were too colourful with all those scarfs on the microphone of Steven-that didn't worked for me.I like Jon's style in the 90s-look KTF video-he is hot there, wow.Performing on stage and voice now-Steven,no doubt. But there is something in Jon that Steven hasn't and that is making good connection with the audience and carizma(i'm not sure about spelling this word, sorry )That was the reason that I'm still in love with them, after lots and lots of years.Steven may know how to scream.,but Jon deffinitely knows how to touch my soul

I think the only reason why Steven had all the scarves around his microphone was because he had little pockets on drugs sewn into them

Hey thats not nice... Besides, til now, he has those scarves. Its his trademark, and they are way sober now. I think he got them cuz he always wanna look flashy, without scarves just make it too plain lookin.

I'm only repeating what he actually said himself lol! I know he's clean now, but back in the 80s, that was the purpose of the scarves.

I read the book "Walk This Way", I dont remember it written there. Is it some sort of interview somewhere else? All I know is that he uses them to compliment his clothings. He was even angry about the Rag Doll, supposed to be Rag Time originally.
