Actually the X-factor was copying American Idol. This was done on the last season of American Idol and may have been done on the previous one too.

I suspect that Jon is returning a favor or two to various charitible contributions made by Idol to causes Jon supports and as a business man there isn't a much better way to debut a new single or announce a new record than 25 million plus watching on national tv in primetime which are the kind of viewrships Idol gets in the US. It's the most popular show on TV in America.

I'd also almost bet on Richie being around that day helping out the coaching.
I agree Lynn. I don't think the appearance will be about the new record as much as it will be about getting free advertising for RSVP. American Idol has shown the ad already plus in the RSVP auctions there was a AI package.

If anyone hears the exact day Jon will be, do inform us here ASAP. Cuz my girl doesnt have cable in her house, so I can invite her in. She likes American Idol and Bon Jovi, its just that sometimes she gets too busy with her nursing course.

Actually it's Simon Fuller who created American Idol.

Simon Cowell created X Factor.

I even located links that indicated there was some dispute between the two Simon's.
